Japanese government cracking down on fatties -report

Does that 35.4 inch limit for women apply to their waists or hips? Because if it's waist, that's unfair to naturally thick women. If it's hips, then that's so unrealistic it's downright ridiculous.

my dad used to weigh alot but after retiring and going to the gym regulary and seeing a dietician regulary he's lost atleast 10 stone which is 130 pounds.

The idea means well and thats the important issue, as long as they don't go to far I would accept this policy.

However, it must be mentioned that I am the exact opposite, I am very slim and gaining weight is difficult for me.

It's ironic because I am a lazy, quiting jerk and my little brother has worked to be an athlete all his life, and still is slightly heavy.

There isn't really much excuse for becoming obese, I think.

people only have themselves to blame. You're fat because you eat too much and sit around all day.

That's right. This is why the Japanese Government is doing this, they don't want to become like America..where 65% of the country are fatties..from what I heard not too long ago.

Does this apply to foreigners or particularly big Japaneses guys?

35.4 inches is actually quite large for a woman's waist, particularly as small-built as a lot of Asian women naturally are.

Sounds like a great idea to me! And I'm one of the people that would fail it! But it would get me off my butt

Ironically Japan doesn't need this.

America and Europe should start doing something like this.

glad i'm not in Japan.....

No doubt! When I was cutting weight for the wrestling team in high school, I was exercising 3+ hours a day, eating 1 meal every other day and I still didn't have a 33 inch waist! I think the only way I could get down to that size is to have part of my abdominals or obliques removed. Sheesh!
I don't defend obesity either but when the government goes from encouraging healthy lifestyle to forcing it, that's a very dangerous path. First, it's monitoring the waistline, then it will limiting the amount of alcohol people can buy. Then it will be forcing them to go to the doctor twice a year for checkups. Then it will be forcing them to stay home at least 8 hours a day to get the proper amount of sleep. Then it will require people to have a gym employee sign off on a form that states you have been there at least 3 times per week. Does that sound like fun to everyone??!

Well Japanese people have on the most part smaller frames. So a 33 waist isnt unthinkable for most of them.

I had a Japanese friend tell me that the foreign women who work in Japanese strip clubs are more often from eastern Europe than the US because "most American women are too fat".

I never visited any strip clubs when I was there, but that didn't stop the extremely annoying Nigerian doormen from following me down the streets of Shinjuku and trying to get me to go into their particular clubs.

I don't see anything wrong with any of that:huh:
