JK Rowling reveals truth about Dumbledore- He was gay

my last words on this thread....She is the creator of the characters and the author of the books so I'm more apt to listen to her than anyone else on the disposition of the characters....and it's a little heady and arrogant for fans to attempt to correct the creator on their own work and creation...

I like my Wizards heterosexual.

It's maaagggiiicccc.

"And now for my next trick! I will solve the case of the missing gerbal!"

:wow:

Pfft. So she says.

I interpret that to mean "Gee I should have pulled this out of my ass years ago!"

So, you're working under the theory that all the evidence is fake and that everything she says is a lie?

hmmm.

Its not a matter of trying to correct her. If it were in the text it would be another story. As it is, I go based on the text and only the text. Like I said, everytime I sit down to read the books, I am not going to Google every interview with J.K. Rowling to ensure my interpretation of the character is in line with hers.

Do you read the books Spideyboy? I noticed you refer to him as Doubledoor or something earlier, so I'm just asking.

Again, I don't see the relevance. In my eyes (and my interpratation of the character) Dumbledore is not gay. In fact, I find it unlikely that he was ever in love with anyone. I think, especially after reading about his past with Grendelwald, that he believes himself to be above it.

This has probably already been addressed, but he wasn't always an enigmatic old man.

you are stirring the pot simply for the sake of it.
Wrong as usual , King Friday.
You obviously don't know me very well, but one of my huge, massive, uncontrollable pet peeves is hypocrisy in others.

If it's not about Homosexuality being bad, illegitimate and only useful for Liberals who enjoy the smug feeling they get when they prod Conservatives with it, then everyone would be just as outraged, dismissive and cynical if she disclosed that he once loved a chick. :o

I wonder, are there any characters in the books that you'd accept as "gay"?
Maybe, some minor ones that aren't that important to the story? :o

And like I said, the way I interpreted the text is, Dumbledore developed his superiority complex from a very young age. It is made very clear by Aberforth's thoughts on his brother, that he thought he was better than most, probably before he even hit puberty. I'm not going over it again.

:whatever: I've already stated in this thread that I can think of at least 2 or 3 characters off the top of my head that I have interpreted as homosexuals.

And an arrogant kid can't be attracted to dudes?

Again, I've already gone over it Brodie. I'm not going to again. It has nothing to do with hating gays as Wilhelm seems to believe. It is just not how I read into the character based on the text I was given.

I personally find it hard to believe that Harry became a legendary auror on top of that, as Rowling has claimed. Simply because, based on the text that we were given, Harry was at best an average wizard. He beat Voldemort on a technicallity. He is a strong leader, but not that great at magic. Does that mean I hate Harry like I hate gay people (according to Wilhelm)? No. It simply means I interpreted the TEXT differently.

I'm not gonna do one those "Ooppps the thread has disappeared" things or lock this if can avoid it but just relax a little guys, the fact is, believing whether Rowling is telling the truth or not is gonna be a personal choice as it is with deciding on what we believe from anyone in the entertainment business.

Why did you decide that those particular characters are gay and the currently asexual old man Dumbledore couldn't've been, in his youth?

Do they talk like thithies? or keep meticulously cleaned quarters?

I'm relaxed.
Who's not relaxed?

If anyone can get bent out of shape over a Pretend Gay Wizard, they should get off of the internet and reconnect with that beautiful world out there.

That would be hilarious though, if the "Black People Are Genetically Stupid" thread thrived and the "Lying Attention ****e Tries To Defame Pretend Wizard, Says He's Gay!" thread was shut down, lol.

It is how I interpreted the text and subtext. What do you want? A paper written to support who I believe is gay and straight in the world of Harry Potter? Would you prefer MLA or APA citations?

Well, I think Rowling said that Harry completely restructured the Auror department, which would be done with leadership, not magical prowess.

Also, it's a big thread, and I shan't read it all. If you;re going to say inflammatory stupid comments, I'd expect you to back them up.

:whatever:

I don't want a paper. Instead of rolling your e-Eyes, you could simply give me a few attributes or scenes that convinced you that they were gay.

'Cause I don't get how you can tell unless it's by stereotypes....which would explain why you feel so betrayed to find out the "NORMAL" Dumbledore isn't attracted to women.

Just seems some are pushing at each other over their views Wil, that is all, as for the other thread, weird you should bring that up as it was talked about last night, fact is i have no real wish to shut down convos but there comes a point where it is merely circular arguing, as no one is gonna budge.

Just responding to a few reports i got is all and figured I'd simply post in the thread instead of simply trashing it or locking etc as i think the posters in here are mature enough to dial it down a touch.

Pfft. So she says.

actually to bring it up in a story, where it wasn't relevant... would be a sign of poor writting. Authors don't throw just any info.. and as much of it as they can at you... it's all specifically told for that story... and the story had nothing to do with dumbledores sexuality

Why couldn't he just be old? Old with no old lady? Gay? She's really milking the $H!T out of this series with the controversy. Who'll be outed next?

Fanticon, we've scientifically proven that you're an idiot. Stop right there.

So do you think she hired the "fan" to ask her that question in public, because she and her Harry Potter books haven't gotten enough publicity, so she relied upon a "plant" to get Harry Potter some desperately needed publicity........or, to increase sales by, lol, having a Gay old man taking care of kids??

Hahahaha, yeah.
