people are being too dismissive. I know it's a high end concept but write it off yet. Maybe Disney undersold the teaser to a certain degree but that's why it's a teaser not a trailer.

I'm fine with what I saw, but then again I'm not that picky when it come to films. I'll give anything a try.

That's fine. I too thought the teaser needed some real moneyshots to sell the movie sincenit lacked it.

But I have faith in it.

I don't know anything about John Carter but I thought the teaser looked pretty sweet. Taylor looked pretty awesome and I liked the alien. Should be a fun movie.

Really? Hmm. I thought it delivered on the moneyshots. I really liked that super jump John does.

I'm not familiar with the books but I thought the footage looked great. Definitely has my interest.

The movie however, does look like the Prince of Persia film.

I don't know about Prince of Persia, but the movie look reminds me of this:

Some people live sheltered lives. They see one Arab-Norman doorway and think Prince of Persia and they think every Arab-Norman doorway they see after is a ripoff.

That's the cover to my copy of the book. I liked it but I was never a fan of books written in the first person.

The trailer looks good. I like the look of the Thark.

and anytime some sort of adventure movie has a hint of sand it means it is a mummy rip off lol

pffft

The Prince of Persia comparisons show even less imagination than the He-Man ones.

And yet, it is an apt comparison.

Similarly dressed Caucasian running around what looks like a film set surrounded by sand.

Oh please. I never said rip off. Just that the aesthetic are similar to a terrible film.

it's not like Prince of Persia freshly invented it's designs though

Not really. This is on mars and not in persia. There is no time travel either. At least, that I know of. The archetecture in the concept art is nothing like persia, either. I just think your jumping to conclusions.

Personally I'm really exicted for this. Plan to read the books, or at least start with "A Princess of Mars". Been going through Amazon and I'm unsure what to get though hehe. So far I've been eyeing this. :D

Do people not realize that there is more than one culture associated with sand?

I am not saying it did. I dislike the Prince of Persia film. I am not trying to give it credit. My point is that it has the same kind of look and feel of that movie in this trailer. I doubt it will be nearly horrendous, but that didn't keep it from being the first thing that popped in my mind when I saw the hero in his getup standing in what feels like nothing like they place they are suppose to be transporting us. What is so great about Mars if it is just going to look like a place here on Earth, with a few sets and cgi bobbles?

Two things.

That doesn't look like Mars. Prince of Persia never felt like it was set in Persia.

Nope, never watched a western in my life.

Basically if you can't trust a Pixar veteran to do a decent flick, I don't know what to tell youse. Cars 2 was just a self-congratulatory thing Lasseter did, but all the rest of the **** they've done has been nothing short of a good.

That's the one I have.

There is a big difference between live action and animation.
