Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn Reteam for Couples Retreat

I saw the movie last night.

Nothing great, but it was incredibly entertaining. Not as good as say WEDDING CRASHERS.

A lot of familiar faces you see in all these Vaugh, Favreau, Apatow, Rudd, Segel movies pop up. John Michael Higgins. plays a therapist. The Asian dude from the Role Models, Knocked Up, and The Hangover is in it as well (I think he was in the hangover).

I got to be honest, I didn't buy Kristen Bell and Bateman as a couple at all. I mean, the thing is, he's not THAT much older than her like some of the other older leading men younger female type pairings in these movies. They just didn't really click and had little chemistry. They were playing a couple whose marriage was on the rocks, but I never quite bought that they were married. I think its because Bell can still pass off as a teenager :D .

For those who are interested in the movie, there are seven clips from "Couples Retreat" available here.

And here are some images of Akerman from the movie's premiere:

Not bad, but I liked her redhead look in the movie better.

The movie is directed by "Mikey" from "A Christmas Story"

:awesome:

1.5/5

One would think four wacky couples would equal four times the hilarity, but they would be dead, dead wrong. While the first half is somewhat amusing, with quite a few laughs sprinkled amongst a handful of lazy wasted opportunities, the second section of the film is a clutzy, leaden bore, with endless generic arguments, umpteen dithering dramatic speeches/love pledges and a truly hideous Guitar Hero product placement setpiece that is a comedy deadzone. The actors are fun in spots, but there is a whiff of desperation hanging over the whole project, like the filmmakers went to edit the movie and realized that they forgot to film the punchlines. Too bad, considering the talent involved.

PS: This flick also has some of the most cringe-worthy child acting in modern cinema.

this movie looks awful..

its like whoever was behind this was like "hey i wanna go on vacation... lets film a movie while were at it."

Vaughn and Co. are more hit and miss these days. Probably one decent comedy in every three. I like Favreau though, dude is halarious. Cracked me up to no end in I Love You, Man. I might catch this on a rental.

Favreau originally wrote the script, then Vaughn took over. I assume that's because Favs was about to start production on Iron Man 2, but I could be mistaken.

It made over 30 million at the box office this weekend, but I can see it slipping alot next week.

It was pretty damn mediocre. A few decent laughs here and there, and Bell and Ackerman were wonders to look at, but it was just so vanilla and forced.

Couples Retreat is about four couples, three white and one black. In the American poster for the film, all eight stars' pictures and names are shown. In the U.K. poster, however, one couple is omitted. Any guesses which one? The black one, obviously, or else this wouldn't be a story.

Yep, Faizon Love and Kali Hawk are missing from the poster used in the U.K. As reported by London's Daily Mail, Universal Pictures says they just wanted to "simplify" the poster for foreign release, to focus on "actors who are most recognizable in international markets." Nonetheless, after getting complaints about racism from British viewers, the studio has apologized and scrapped plans to use the revised poster in other countries.
