If Marvel was to create a JSA type group what old characters would you like to see them dig out of the vault? The new JSA has 16, so I picked out 16 of the old Marvel/Timely characters. Some of the names, origins and costumes are pure Velveeta but I think all these guys have potential to be fleshed out in the modern age. Some would have to be heirs or children of the original.

I would love to see:

- Venus- immortal
-Hercules the Strongman -Age could be explained as being a mutant, he was naturally the size of the Sasquatch 10'.
- Ka-Zar(David Rand) Could be Son of Ka-Zar
- Jimmy Jupiter - Could be a new kid.
- Dakor the Mystic - He's a mystic.
- Major Liberty - He could have been dead all along.
- Merzah - A mystic
- Monstro - Immortal
- Zara - New version
- Jack Frost - has been frozen in ice.
- Blonde Phantom(Louise Grant) Became 20 again in the She-Hulk.
- Blue Blaze - Already Dead/immortal
- Black Widow - Already Dead/immortal
- Challenger - Weapon X program
- Magar the Mystic Re-creator of Souls - Mystic
- Dynaman - immortal
- Electro - Android
- Ferret - New person takes this identity

i'm not sure how a roster of 16 would work (especially since bendis would be writing this), but i'd pick this book up.

I don't think all the JSA are in every arc but I'm not sure because I haven't read the new book. Some of the 16 could be extras like reserve Avengers.

I can't speak for the new book, but given that it's still Johns writing it, I doubt the entire JSA roster will factor into any one arc beyond the current opening one. The previous volume of JSA, while still a great comic, was notorious for shifting the spotlight among a handful of the JSA's members while the others barely got any face time or were just quietly dropped from the team altogether. I remember being genuinely surprised that guys like Sand and Jakeem Thunder were still even on the team near the end of the last volume because, before that last couple of arcs, barely a peep was heard from either for many, many issues. Johns is definitely not good at balancing the spotlight so all the members of a team get their fair share.

Blue Diamond- Returns from space

Red Raven- He has been in suspended animation

Destroyer(Keen Marlow)- worked from the FBI, then went on to SHIELD

Ghost Girl- New kid

Golden Girl- New kid

Golem-Jacob Goldstein is the legendary creature of Jewish mythology. And this would make him immortal.

Professor Phineas T Horton- LMD/android

Jack Frost- Jack Frost is an Asgard frost giant, making him ageless

Spirit Of '76- have him be a ghost

Thin Man- still around was in the short lived Invaders relanch

Vision- is from a realm of the supernatural

The Black Marvel- Prodigy new identity

The Fin- Lt. Peter Noble a mutant with the ability to live on land or water. Still alive do to his mutation.

Captain America

wasn't he just the destroyer's alter ego in the spider -man tas miniseries six forgotten warriors btw its spelled "keene":ninja:

Thor
Hercules
Captain America
Namor
Union Jack
Human Torch
Spitfire
Miss America

i agree canary fan butmaybe we should specify the ORIGINAL human torch

Yeah, that's who I was thinking of but I should have stated it.

Haha, Thor would totally never join a team like this. It'd be too embarrassing for him, given that he was duped into helping Hitler during WWII. :oldrazz:

yes and no, he was used in the cartoon, but he was the first Destroyer but in the 70's he was reconed as being Brian Falsworth. but he has been re-reconed back int he 90's and seeing as there is almost nothing known about him you can do anything you want with him.

That's a lot of buts, especially if you count the one in your avatar.

I think the JSA Marvel team would inlcude old and near retirement aged heroes, heroes from WWII like:
the Wizzer
the Human Torch I
Captain America (or the Winter Soldier)
Miss America
Namor
Fin
The Angel
Marvel Boy
Perhaps some characters from when it was Timely Comics,
and other old and retired characters, plus some from current comics that should be retired.
Maybe some of the original versions of some characters, before they were redesigned.

Any one know any characters who were replaced or redesigned?
