I find your pieces to have a kind of unfinished quality to them. Is this intentional? I would kind of like to see what you could do if you really pushed yourself to go further with it.

The answer would be 50% intentional.

On one hand having a 2 year old and another daughter due any moment I rarely have the time to put into drawing so I do my best with the time I have.

On the other I tend to use a sketchy line while the majority prefer sharp stylized lines. This contributes to the unfininshed look, yet I feel it helps my work stand out.

All in all I just want to have an entry every month and try harder each time. I am not quite there yet but I am getting better.

Thanks for the composition mention that aspect of drawing is where I most try to better myself

I have to say so far there have been some great entries. But these two stand out for me so far.

Ker1, you definitely have an excellent sense of isolation. The reflection of the stars is a nice touch.

Mattchew, nice work as always, and I like the addition of Galactus in the background.

i get that there's some gray area in the official rules, but if we're all being honest... in this thread, finals only, right?

I guess my feeling is that I have a bunch of my stuff im proud of that would be seen WAY more if I posted it in this thread as opposed to my personal thread, but that's kinda not the point of this thread.

not ultimately the biggest deal, though and to be fare you're not breaking any rules or anything.

It's always been ONE ENTRY per artist!

First post, the rules:
ONE ENTRY PER ARTIST!
Take your time and show 'em your best work, try to avoid posting works-in-progress. (Any duplicate entries may be deleted without notice from the thread). You may want to check the thread occasionally to see that your entry is still posted, any entries not showing at the close of the contest may be disqualified. Also if you choose to 'team-up' with another artist then you must clearly state both names with the entry and who did what.

This rule would also apply to NON-ENTRIES - So please everyone lets post your final entry only - and if you feel you need to post a NON-ENTRY then please do so in your own art thread! At the end of each month I go thru the entries and if I see multiple entires then you may find yourself 'disqualified' - OK?

I will go thru the thread and remove any non-entries from the thread!

looks like the big guy made his ruling, but just wanted to say that my gripes weren't personal. glad to have you entering in the contest, and hope you do in the future because your stuff is obviously amazing. you for sure have one of my votes this month!

No, it's not my art at all. Its Blairsmith's entry, but it was so pretty, I couldn't help coloring it. I just wanted it in this thread so he'd see it because I was so impressed with his line art.

I really rushed on this picture. I did it in two days.
My scanner made the picture look a bit grainy and a bit different than the original.

I tried to have a bit of bulk from the comic Surfer, but keep the slimness of Doug Jones.
I also put a bit of the "Kirby crackle" in it.

P.S. I'd be cool if somebody colored it in Photoshop.

pretty sweet... love the 'power' around the hand... wishing I'd added that.

Been busting this one out today, because I kinda thought I might lose motivation after I see the movie...

This is obviously (i hope) a pic of the Surfer and the Human Torch going head to head, since that seems to be something that is gonna happen in the movie (based on the trailer).

No sign of Galactus in the trailer, but I had to fill the background.

I was kinda down on the FF theme initially, but I stand corrected. I actually did have a LOT of fun with it. Hope you all like it!​
