Jurassic World - Part 6

The problem with clips is that we are seeing material without being introduced to the characters involved and usually there is more to the scene than what is shown in promotional material, such as this first clip. That being said, I've watched it again and even though I was initially put off by it, I actually liked it this time. I like the lighter tone the clip portrays and I really like how the interaction between Owen and Claire makes them feel so human. The aspect I like the most is the camera work and the look of the film. It really feels like Jurassic Park to me.

The clip is too random to reveal much of what the film's going to be like.

Bad writing is bad writing. You don't always need context to tell the difference between good writing and bad writing. This is bad. Very bad. And that saddens me, because I really want this movie to be good.

The clip is a weird mix of sexual harassment and ham-handed exposition delivered by two actors that look like they'd rather be somewhere else. I'm trying to find a silver lining here but I'm drawing a blank.

Jesus christ look at all that blatant product placement! I want those plushies!!! But that aside, curious to see what they're hiding from: Indominus? Tyrannosaurus? Pteranodons and Dimorphodons? Velociraptors?

You get paid a salary to be a college student? Nice gig.

Nope. If you're a full time college student, odds are you have part time job that doesn't pay well enough. Hence, why I'm rethinking seeing this in theaters.

That picture reminds me of Grant and the kids up in the tree in Jurassic Park.

lol at so many people not going to see this movie because of 1 clip.

The general audience do not think and worry of such mediocre things that a lot of people in these threads do LOL:woot:

from what I've read and seen from images, trailers etc. I'm very excited for this movie. I like how they are handling this film. Its a sequel to the originals, but yet, going for a slight remake at the same time, hence the very familiar shots we have seen. I think this film will be the best since the original.

I won't watch the clip, but the reception to one clip isn't going to worry me much. I'll wait to see it in context. Though bad dialogue is bad dialogue, with or without context, I'll still wait to see just how better or worse it is in context. That clip was meant to appeal to the MTV crowd anyway so that's one thing.

I could be wrong ( I will make the final judgement after watching this movie) but, from what I have seen in the trailers and the MTV clip, Chris Pratt is not convincingly able to show a frightened dude expression which Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum could, so much for those fans who were claiming him to be a very good actor.

True, but then I think back to the first trailer. Pratt's delivery with any dialogue seems off to me.

I love the Pratt, but if I have any concerns (based on the trailers, video released so far) it is that his character will be just a bit too much of a comedian. When I think back to the original Jurassic Park, and even The Lost World, the characters had some funny lines, but they weren't delivered in an overly comical or hokey way. The overall tone still took everything quite seriously, and I just hope Pratt doesn't play Star Lord in this movie. I love the guy, but I think there is a need for seriousness in a movie where dinosaurs goes on a rampage and eats people.

I'm fine with Pratt being a funny dude in the first part as long as he doesn't run around doing overly silly one-liners during the chaos. That line from the first trailer, "Depends on what kind of dinosaur they cooked up in that lab" sounds like something Horatio Caine would say before putting on his glasses. Let's not have a whole second half filled with those type of lines.

That's a great way of putting it.

It seems like everything he says/does has a hint of Andy Dwyer in it. I think Pratt needs to move out of that comfort zone and start infusing some character acting into his performances, because nearly every role I've seen him in makes me think of his Parks and Rec character - who I love - but it is a bad thing.

Perfect assessment.

Pratt does what he does very well. But he does only one note. Now he has muscles. Now he's a hot ticket in Hollywood. This feels like the first Jurassic Park film in the franchise that serves as a vehicle for an actor rather than the actors serving the franchise. I think Pratt is very talented, as is Howard and I'm excited to see the film for the dinosaurs. But I'm not betting on Pratt standing out other than for what he does best--comedy. Although this character seems a bit more astute than the other characters he's played (Andy, Starlord).

Should be a fun movie nonetheless.

I wasn't going to see the clip until the backlash it's been getting due to Whedon's comments and I'm slightly disappointed with it. I won't spend time thinking about it much because it's just a clip but that was bad dialogue between those two characters. I'm gonna wait til June now and not let a one-minute long clip ruin it for me.

Heh, I just read Whedon's comment on the clip. :D

...and I'm too busy wishing this clip wasn't 70's era sexist. She's a stiff, he's a life-force - really? Still?

If people are writing this off after a 1 mintue clip then ill just have less people crowding the theater. BDH has always been a crap actress and yet people are surprised everytime. She was one of the weakest parts of spiderman 3 as well and like many have said, if ron wasnt her dad i doubt she would have gotten hapf the roles she has.
