Jurassic World - Part 8

Colin Trevorrow himself confirmed that the T-Rex in the film is the same one from JP1, and I think it's the only T-Rex on the island. The scars are from when the raptor attacked her at the end of the first film, but it's possible it also could have accumulated scars and war wounds from fighting other wild dinosaurs before it was captured and placed in the new park.

That's not what Marvolo is saying, think you're misunderstanding

Are we positive that is the same T-Rex from JP1?

From the interview that confirmed she was in the film I got the impression that the T-Rex from JP1 has been in the old abandoned part of the island all this time roaming and living. I figure the one we've glimpsed in the tv spots and trailers is just one that was bred for the new park, because they were never able to retrieve or capture the original.

Besides, they said the JP1 T- Rex has accumulated scars and war wounds in the years between JP1 & JW. If she has been in her own paddock in JW how would she have gotten so much wear and tear?

Maybe Im wrong, but Id prefer the original Rex not being the one in the JW paddock. I prefer the idea of her roaming free in the old park, and when the I-Rex breaks into the old park they cross paths. And she stomps a mudhole in its ass for encroaching on her turf.

I would love this.

if the original island was completely abandoned, exactly where does the action/park take place now?

The other side of Isla Nublar. The old area is the restricted zone.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but weren't all the dinosaurs from JP1 doomed the moment the island was abandoned due to them needing some kind of special treatment/medication?

They were modified to be lysine-deficient. If I recall correctly, in the second novel, it's mentioned that the herbivores adapted their eating habits to get the appropriate amino acids which was in turn passed to the carnivores.

Yeah, the Rex in this film is the same one as from the first, and in my opinion, that's awesome.

I know that. I said that in my post. Im asking if the one we've seen in the trailer is her? I was under the impression tha the one in the new park isnt her and that she is still living in the old park. Collin made it sound like her reveal happens in the climax. But that shot from the trailer clearly isnt the clmax.

So Im thinking she is in fact in the old park still. They never captured her. They just bred another one. Which is the one we see in the trailer. At some point in the climax the I-Rex and our characters end up in the old park and thats when the T-Rex from JP1 shows up.

Yeah pretty sure Bryce lures the old Rex out to take on the I-Rex. From what we have heard and the shot of her in the trailer with those big doors opening and her holding the flare, and a quick shot we see of her running in the trailer. We see her feet running and then behind her the rexes feet.

:D

I'm sure this will be a whole lot more satisfying than the boring junk that was Godzilla. Let them fight indeed. :funny:

Got an interesting question I'd like to pose to all of you. Do you see/Would you ever want the Jurassic Park/World franchise ever branching out to include other extinct animal clones like Woolly Mammoths or Saber-Toothed Tigers, Dodos etc? Or is that just jumping the shark a little as it might render the title a little moot and it would tick people off cause it might change it into a whole new franchise or something?

I wouldn't mind it - the Jurassic Park Builder game for ioS features that content. However they would only be an addition to the dinosaurs, not a dominating feature.

Mammoths have been hinted at in some of the viral marketing already for JW if I recall correctly.

Yeah at the end of the day, we'll still see that T-Rex. I just figured that in that world the DNA would be a lot easier to sequence and get 100% accuracy. I mean their descendants are still around to help fill those gaps.

Ooh interesting.

I always thought it would've been interesting to see more from that rival company from the first film that wanted the dino dna (BioSyn i believe?) from Nedry. Perhaps them sending someone within a Jurassic World and having them create havoc from within? I don't know, but that always intrigued me.

I always thought it was strange that they more or less just dropped that idea. Always had potential imo.

Looks good to me :woot: also really love the style of the raptors in this film.
I'm really disappointed with the quality of the sculpt and paint job on the animatronics we've seen thus far in the film. While the cgi as a whole has been fine, the cg animated eye on the animatronic raptor head is horrific looking to me. I am usually pretty forgiving when it comes to cgi quality in trailers, but this when we're this close to release, that is unjustifiably bad.

It's weird that they did that, though I guess it's for the second lid of the raptor and the minor twitching. It LOOKS GOOD but it does look off..

It's not composited well AT ALL. They literally cut and pasted an animated eye into the scene with out any finesse or attempt to connect it to the raptor's head. You can clearly see where the cgi eye area ends, and it bounces around as the camera moves because it hasn't been properly matched to the camera motion. Without hyperbole, I've seen better work from pre-grads when I was in college ten years ago. I cannot believe that shot was given a pass from ANY one in production. This is the franchise that put cgi on the map. There's just no excuse for ****** work here.

It's not a deal breaker, but it blows my mind that something so glaringly bad could be ok'd and along with some other questionable decisions, does make me worry about the quality of the film. I'll still be there opening weekend, but my expectations can't really get any lower.

It's weird who do you blame then? It's still ILM..it's still Stan Winston's company who worked on this? Colin?

I dunno it didn't really look off to me  oh well

I didnt even notice anything looking off.

I doubt anyone besides film nerds that rewatch trailers over and over frame by frame will either. The average movie goer just doesnt pay attention or get up in the air about compositing looking off or wonky. So these things that to us seem "glaringly obvious" are actually no more obvious to the avrage joe than a flea's fart in a hurricane.
