Jurassic World - Part 8

Will have to give it a chance, the last tv spot has a pretty good vibe. Im a massive fan of the original, one of my top 5 favorite movies ever, so i will give it a shot at least. I don't like the shininess of the CG but if there's Dinos involved, it deserves at least one view for me

I dont know if this has been posted yet:

Colin Trevorrow Responds to Joss Whedon’s JURASSIC WORLD Criticism

“I wonder why [Universal] chose a clip like that, that shows an isolated situation within a movie that has an internal logic. That starts with characters that are almost archetypes, stereotypes that are deconstructed as the story progresses,” he said. “The real protagonist of the movie is Claire and we embrace her femininity in the story’s progression. There’s no need for a female character that does things like a male character, that’s not what makes interesting female characters in my view. Bryce and I have talked a lot about these concepts and aspects of his character.”
That’s the most encouraging thing I’ve heard about the movie, although I wonder how closely the final film will stick to it. Is Claire the one who gets to do all the science stuff and Owen (Chris Pratt) gets to go out and handle the action with his raptor buddies?

Bryce Dallas Howard agrees with Trevorrow that Whedon’s criticism was warranted, but tells the Huffington Post:

“Marketing for a film is tricky because you release stuff without context. Of course there was a part of me being such a fan of him that was like, ‘Nooooo!’ Especially because when you see the movie it’s not at all like that, but we make movies and it’s out there for public opinion and I hope he likes the movie!”

You'd think Whedon has been in the business long enough to realize how these things work, I guess he has his own little misunderstanding to deal with now so maybe he'll wake up as he finds the fanboy crown slipping a touch.

I totally agree with Trevorrow on female characters, I have never seen why a woman has to lose feminine qualities to be interesting or seen as an equal.

So excited a week from tomorrow I will finally be seeing this :woot: Can not waitttttttt.

I still remember how I felt watching dinosaurs on the big screen in Jurassic park seen all on the big screen

can't wait for this one but hopefully the kid actors won't annoy that much

Hunter I fully expect you to PM me spoilers after you see it!

I believe I asked this earlier but my question wasn't answered so I'll post again: how long is the average film review embargo, because I see a lot of people making a big deal about how the one for this movie is so short.

Colin Trevorrow discusses the original script:

Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) was hired to direct Jurassic World without being allowed to see the screenplay first. And when he finally saw the screenplay, he didn’t understand it. He says that he warned Steven Spielberg, “if I direct this screenplay, it’s going to be a bad movie.”

Talking to Den of Geek, Trevorrow explains how he saved himself from having to direct a screenplay that he didn’t actually understand at all:

This makes me feel better. He keeps saying all the right things. I know the marketing hasn't represented that but it could just be where like Octoberist said they're just not showing a lot on purpose. We've all learned where this could go either very right or very wrong, so we're just being cautious. At least we all agree we want a great Jurassic Park film.

Jesus, I've never felt this conflicted about a movie's pre-release before. But I'll just hope for the best like I always do anyway.

Monday or Tuesday before release. If there is confidence from the studio, there really isn't an embargo. Inside Out has had reviews for a couple of weeks already.

When is that coming out BTW, because I'm interested in seeing that.

I remember some people had doubts about Fury Road because its embargo didn't end until a couple days before release, and then it turned out to have like a 96% rating on rotten tomatoes and be almost universally critically praised.

Two weeks from today.

Great. Hate to get OT, but it's positive word of mouth has been getting me interested in it, since Pixar has been in a bit of a slump lately (by general consensus) and I've been rooting for them to get their mojo back.

98%. And Fury Road's embargo was rather normal. JW is quite late. It doesn't mean it will be bad, but it also doesn't build confidence.

Some guy on Reddit really liked the movie and rated it 8.5/10.

Obviously we don't know if it's legit, but whatever.

Reviews for Fury Road started trickling in a week before its release, and the embargo lifted that Monday, several days before the 1st shows. This is not in the same boat, unfortunately.

I'm excited for this movie enjoyed all the movies, even the 3rd as Spino is my favorite dinosaur.

I think Jurassic World has the potential to be one of the best in the series, the only things I'm really concerned with is hoping it's different enough from the first to not have a "been there done that" vibe. Also I'm worried I basically know everything that is going to happen From the trailers. Park creates new type of Dino, it breaks free and soon the whole park is in panic mode as other Dinosaurs escape. I really am hoping for a plot twist of some sort, otherwise I feel the only surprises will be how the action plays out. I kinda wish the hybrid Dino would of been kept more secret. But I know an action movie about dinosaurs is always usually going to be pretty straight forward.

I think this Sunday I'm gonna do my little JP marathon. At least watching JP and TLW for sure :woot:

From the trailers I've seen I didn't feel like we've seen too much at all.

I recently just finished the first two, so I'll watch the third one soon.
Any listeners of the Now Playing podcast here? They've had some good retrospective reviews of JP leading up to the movie.

The original is airing on NBC right now, hosted by Pratt and Spielberg. Supposedly new clip to be shown as well.
