Well enjoy man, both novels are great. And if you ever get a chance to grab the edition I picked up today you must do so. It's beautiful.

I already owned both novels but Barnes and Noble was doing this exclusive. Both books in one, leatherbound Hardcover for $25. Grabbed it today.
Holy cow that is gorgeous.

The beginning to the first novel is so good. I love how it introduces you to the story's world as if it's unraveling some mystery. I wish I could read the first book for the first time again...I think I was 8 or 9 when I read it after the movie came out so I got bored and skipped some of the more technical, expository stuff Crichton is known for. I've since read it pretty much every other year for the last two decades.

The Lost World isn't as good, but is still a fun read. It's darker...more cynical. Ignore everything you remember about the film, however. The movie adaptation is nothing like the book, and I mean that in a very literal sense.

I have read JP about 25 times since 2005. I love that book. I also own about 8 copies of it, because I've torn through it so many times. My favorite is the UK edition, with the picture of Isla Nublar. TLW is great as well, but I own three copies of that (plus the set Broseph44 posted.)....as well as the Audiobooks LOL.

I can attest to the fact that the LW book is way different than the movie

Nope, neither of them. I bought it last year (was going to buy the awesome edition you just posted, but it went out of stock before I could... now I'm jealous) but promised myself I'd finish reading a few other things first, then get on JP right before JW came out. Thanks to work and everything, I've left my run a little late! :p

I'm only up to where--

-- the American doctor catches the Compi (or whatever it will turn out to be in the book) on the beach--

-- but it's really good so far.

What I loved about it when I read it recently, was recognizing just how many scenes were taken from the first novel in the trilogy of movies.

Barnes and Noble collectible editions are great. They make a very sexy looking bookshelf. And they have a very nice selection of sci-fi. The only downside is that things go into and out of print. The public domain stuff I wouldn't be worried about, but the more modern stuff I would be worried about not seeing again. Kind of sad I missed out on the Narnia, American Gods, and Stephen King ones.

They are always in stock at my Barnes and Nobles. Narnia, American gods, and the Stephen king, Iliad and the Odyssey etc. I want the Dante one. It's the Longfellow translation, but I mainly want it for the Doré illustrations. I've got the Arabian Night's, but the translation is a really old one and it's awful. Luckily tho the book looks fantastic on the shelf so it's not a total waste.

has it been said if JW is set on the same island as JP or is it one of the other 'five death' islands?

It's on the same island as the original Jurassic Park - Isla Nublar.

Don't think anyone posted this unless I missed it

I-Rex looks and sounds great. Also love the score in this clip.

Oh and the JW Lego gameplay leaked or something earlier and if some of what happens in the game is what happens in the movie, then I know some spoilers already. Like what happens with rex vs I-Rex

Do you have a link?

The gameplay is gone. But I can tell you the spoilers if you wish.

Just tell me the T-Rex wins and we don't have a repeat of JPIII and the Spinosaurus.

So what dose ever one think the RT score will be and what will be the over call thought about the movie? I think it will get around a 85 score and I think it will be not as good has the first one but a good worthily sequel and much better then 2 and 3.

Here's some of the spoilers from the Lego game. Assuming that what happens in the game is also what happens in the film.

-Charlie attacks Owen, but he gets away
-Barry saves the boys from the Raptors when they're chasing the Ambulance.
-Rexy defeats the iRex by pushing it towards the Mosasaur lagoon, where the Mosasaur jumps out and snatches the iRex. They have their fight on Main Street (which is like the main walk in area of the park for guests)
-Wu escapes in an InGen helicopter
-Rexy is seen escaping into the jungle
-Hoskins dies in wu's lab

Ah. Ouch. Not liking that at all.

Eh, maybe it'll grow on me, but that isn't as exciting as I would have hoped.

I didn't see your post Til now Jaqua but I posted the spoilers above.

No worries. I saw that after I posted, and fixed it haha.

How do you feel about
Rex pushing it off the edge?

I would have preferred
it get's the killing bite. The push, what's the context? A shove, or an overpower?
