yeah, malcom believed if nature killed it, it should stay dead... if man killed it.. than it was their fault and it's there right to bring it back

Set the fourth one like 50 years later & theres more Dinosaurs then humans. The Dinosaurs reclaim the Earth. The end

Malcolm implied he wouldn't have a problem bringing back animals that humans drove to extinction.

I don't think he'd want to see the dodos come back. They were ugly mother******s. :o

When the hell are we going to get casting news?

What if they already have a complete cast, but are keeping it secret? /Conspiracy Keanu.

They HAVE to get Tim back right?

He's grown into a pretty good actor and he has been getting bigger roles here lately. From The Pacific, The Social Network, Justified, and I just recently saw him in G.I. Joe:Retaliation; Shame he didnt get more screentime.

And it's not like he requires a hefty paycheck yet

Both him and Laura dern seem like obvious choices right now. Laura was on the view a couple weeks ago and they asked about it and she was kinda coy and then promoted jp3D to see a twenty something version of herself.

And now with her show canceled...

Where do you see the locations? Or are you speculating that.

Just saw Jurassic park 3d so I'm so excited for this movie! Hope they can recapture some of that magic! And they need to keep the theme

Jurassic Park 3D was great. I had a blast seeing it in the theaters again. Much of the cgi is starting to show its age, but it has been 20 years, so that's not a complaint. The Rex attack scene still looks phenomenal though.

It's funny, I've watched this movie too many times to count, but in the theater, I was still discovering little things here and there that I never noticed before. One that comes to mind is various funny news clippings hung up in grants trailer. One clipping was for an article titled something like "DINOSAURS FOUND ON MARS".

I got to see Jurassic Park 3D in theaters yesterday, phenomenally awesome. I think the CG really stands up to todays standards.

I noticed alot of things I had either forgotten or haven't noticed before, like the clippings in Grants trailer. The one that caught my eye was something about aliens stealing man's face?

You know, after watching GI Joe, I kept on wondering why they didn't have Timmy be the third survivor instead of that turd we got. I mean, even his weapon was totally cool, a gun that shoots out remote controlled bullets.

I've just recently heard about the upcoming JP4 movie. I logged on here hoping to find some news about the making of the film, new dinosaurs being introduced, old cast members returning, new plot points, etc. Gotta say I'm a little disappointed as I've just read 10 pages of talk about the previous films and the toys that came out. Oh well, I guess when there ISN'T any news on the fourth film, you guys gotta talk about something.

Personally, I hope that they bring back Lex & Tim for this movie (if not with the original actors, at least the characters recast). As some of you have mentioned, the actor who played Tim has grown into a fairly competent actor and could likely resume the role. The girl who played Lex is less likely to reprise her original role, as she quit acting years ago and she's now a painter, so she may have to be recast. Alan, Ellie, and Ian can reprise their roles in a smaller capacity, but Alan and Ian at least should leave the "running from dinosaurs" part of the movie up to the younger, more able bodied members of the original cast. Unless they were to do the unexpected and have the older survivors from the original get eaten. That could certainly raise the stakes. In JP2 & JP3, when characters from the first movie arrive on the island with new characters played by unrecognizable actors/stuntmen, you just know they're there as raptor food. Giving the survivors from the first three movies the same treatment will totally surprize and shock everyone. If at least one of them dies by the end of the first act, the audience will be on the edge of their seats until the movie's climax because they'll have that sense of suspense from the first movie which was so lacking in the last two.

As to the plot? I think Tim & Lex will probably inherit the islands from their grandfather (the actor who played him is now confined to a wheelchair and rarely acts anymore, if ever). With their uncle eaten by a baby rex in JP2, they're now the main beneficiaries of Grandpa's will. As to why they choose to return to the island? I've read a few good ideas on this thread. Going there to protect the animals, as dangerous as they are, from human incursion is one idea. Perhaps big game hunters have decided that Jurassic Park is where you'll find the most challenging prey?

And as for new dinosaurs? Adding a megaraptor to the list of dangers could really amp up the risk factor (picture a velociraptor that's comparable in size to a T-rex). As a Canadian, I'd kinda like to see an Albertasaurus in this movie (a slightly smaller cousin to the T-Rex, but with larger and more useful forelimbs). But the earlier mentioned dinosaur that was capable of blending into the background like a comelien sounds interesting too.

Anyway, I've subscribed to this thread now, so I'll hopefully be able to hear more news as it gets posted.

Carnotaurus; a T-Rex that can camoflauge itself like a chameleon. Add it!

I'm curious to see why they never ever included the chameleon Carnatoaurus. The terror of that type of dino writes itself.

Yes! Carnotaurus! That, and the Megaraptor!

If you thought the velociraptors (or, more accurately, deinonychus) were scary, imagine a dinosaur that fast and that smart, but the size of a T-Rex.

So, I've recently joined one of the largest JP forums on the net, and it seems there's an unverified rumor going around about the plot of JPIV.

I would take this with a grain of salt, but since it was generating so much discussion I figured we might as well make a thread for it.

This was posted in the comments of a comingsoon article about JP4 filming in Hawaii:

I have a friend who is building the miniature sets for JP4, and another who is building the actual sets, they said the story is as follow: Jurassic Park is up and running, it has been in business for sometime, and again the dinosaurs get loose. That's it. /Quote

So yeah. Unlikely. However, I commented on it asking for more details and POOF the dialogue line was deleted entirely. Im trying to see if anyone I know can confirm or deny it, but the majority of my contacts do not know the plot. Still, the more I think about this, the more it seems like it could work. It also meshes well with the recent rumors and speculations about JP4 being a return to form.

Thoughts?

Yeah I'd take it, why not. It'd be interesting to see it actually work

Haha, so basically it's the animals getting loose at the zoo.

Its caused a surprising amount of debate. Mostly due to if its like a reboot, where its still connected but somehow someone got patents and actually did things right (well, you know, for a while anyway.), or if it will try to not really even bring up past movies. I mean, so far it seems things are still going with JPIV for the title, so I doubt its some sort of remake, but yeah. There's also the debate on dino cloning being outlawed by now, or maybe being reopened on the site of the original park, due to filming locations resembling those of the original film.

Wait, if that's remotely true, doesn't just defeat the purpose behind the message of the books and the first movie?

And they tried to do that with The Lost World, only by bringing the dinos to San Diego.

I just think that there's so much you can do with this premise, just like the Jaws sequels. It's not about that jazz: it's about the characters and dangers of playing God.
