Really great to see Brolin in talks, love that guy

Who else freaked out when they found out that Laura Dern was only 25 when she filmed the first 'Jurassic Park'. I thought she was way older. It's so weird.
y.

what? whaaaaaaat?:wow:

Brolin would rock it as a game warden/hunter type character, ala Muldoon and Roland Tembo.

I suspect Brolin will be the dad of the two boys, unless they just make him like maybe someone that works at the park or another guest.

I wonder if this franchise is kind of besides the point now? The first film, and the book it's based on, had themes and ideas as well as great visuals and characters. But even by the 2nd film it just became "Here's the initial set-up, now just wait for the dinos to start snacking on people and running wild." For me, even Spielberg could not save JP2. I am honestly asking this: Did anyone have the awe and wonder and feelings of excitement for the 2 sequels that you had for the first film?

There are very few moments in movies that capture the raw, awe-inspiring magic of that first scene with the brachiosaurus.

No but you never would. We had never seen dinosaurs before hence the wonder and awe. As for this hard to say what themes it will have since we know nothing about it

No, neither of the sequels had any of the awe or excitement of the first, and in a way, that's okay. I think The Lost World tried for some of that, but that movie is so often tedious that I feel like it'd have been better off if it went for the dumb monster movie fun that the third did go for. Maybe it's best that this franchise became all about the cool dinosaurs, because how do you return to the themes and ideas of the first without just rehashing them?

The writing in 'The Lost World' was so different than in 'Jurassic Park'. I don't mind the different tone - it's darker and more of a horror movie than the first which was a film of discovery and awe. BUT Ian Malcolm felt so flat in The Lost World, especially in the second half; he was no where as charming or as weird as he was in the first film..despite being viewed as a lying weirdo to the public.

It would have helped if Tembo were the protagonist. It'd be a different angle than the first film was.

If you noticed, most of Vaughn's actions caused nothing but trouble in the film, including the lost of many lives. He was the one who brought the baby T-Rex to the trailers (RIP Eddie); he's the one who unleashed the captured dinosaurs at Tembo's camp.

He's the catalyst to the story and sadly, moves the movie forward due to his recklessness.

Hence, why I wanted Pete P. to fill Vaughn's gut full of buckshot. :word:

So yes, I would love to see Tembo kill Van Owen. In fact, Van Owen should've died anyway, since Vaughn was completely missing in the third act.

Might I say, I kinda like Tembo but I wish he was more...fully realized.

He was a likeable, and you could respect his point of view. I too thought a film with Tembo at the forefront, perhaps about people shipwrecked on the island, would have been more engaging than what JP2 ended up being.

Give him a full beard, and he's Novel Grant come to life. I know he's not, and this isn't a remake, I just can't love this decision enough.

Yes. Who would have guessed that that ground the T-Rex had trodden would become a chasm?

Another good choice. Cant see him surviving the whole movie though. :p

If this pans out, I'm betting five bucks he's replacing David Oyelowo because he's going to an, *ahem*, certain other 2015 franchise...
