Just what do heroes/heroines do with their costumes-when not wearing them?

They got their powers from a space unicorn, so cartoon characters cleaning their clothes when they aren't wearing them is totally believable.

Umm-what about those heroes/heroines who have secret identity issues(remember that issue of Spider Man when Aunt May comes home and finds a battered and bloody Peter Parker fast asleep and still wearing his Spidey-suit)?

They still put them in the closet or at least out of the way so no one else see's it. The thing with what your describing is that Peter came home bloody and feel asleep and Aunt may walked in on him. Otherwise he puts in back of the closet or in a box underneath the bed. The fact that his suit if just cloth means he simply needs to fold it up.
