I didn't see an official thread on this, so I'm just going to go ahead and ask. In the episode Hereafter Pt. 2, Vandal Savage near the end tells Superman to go back in time and stop him by any means necessary. At the end of the episode, Superman tells the League they have a job to do, and flies off with them. Then Vandal wonders if he did it, and the world as it should be starts to fade into view, and ...

Vandal fades away. Is this meant to imply that the League murdered him? I mean, he's technically immortal, he didn't suddenly die of old age. What was the deal there? Was this another hint that the world of the Justice Lords was coming to be? Anyone got a clue?

He faded because his timeline was being rewriten and he went to wherever he was in the new timeline. Wether or not he was alive or dead is unknown, but knowing Vandal Savage, he was probably alive.

It means they succedded in ending Vandal's verison of the future. Nothing more, nothing less. After all, if they beat him the past, there'd be no way he could have the memories of what he did before.
