Does anyone else thinks that "Justice", a 12-issues maxi-series written by Jim Kruger and Alex Ross, and drawn by Doug Breathwait and Alex Ross, would be a perfect Justice League movie series (It render at least two films) with some tweaks and strechts? :woot:

Here's an Plot Summary of the series, by Wikipedia:

Bombs descend towards the ground in cities across the world. And despite their power; Superman, The Flash, J'onn J'onzz, and every other member of the Justice League of America fails to save anyone. As Superman looks down upon the world as it explodes...the villains wake up. It's only a dream, but one every villain has been having. Aquaman senses something wrong deep in the sea and heads off to find a black sphere, where he is then attacked and captured by Black Manta. Within the sphere, Lex Luthor welcomes him.

In Gotham City, The Riddler and his henchmen hack into Batman's network inside Wayne Tower when Batman arrives. From the Tower, to a Batmobile chase, to a nightclub fight, and finally the cemetery, Riddler is defeated and sent to Arkham Asylum. As Red Tornado and Superman look for Aquaman, Flash learns that Captain Cold gave people in the desert their own sea, and Poison Ivy distributed food in a hungry city. Later, Brainiac uses the captured Aquaman for his experiments. Just as J'onn tracks Aquaman, he is attacked psychically by Gorilla Grodd. Luthor frees Riddler, and ignores The Joker.

Just as Toyman creates prosthetic limbs for people in need, the news reports on the villains helping and solving the world's problems. The Justice League Satellite is infiltrated, and Red Tornado is destroyed, as all of JLA member's secrets are now revealed. Luthor, Black Manta, the Riddler, and Poison Ivy make their statement to the world: they are helping the world in many ways that the League didn't, while the League did nothing. As this is happening; Bizarro attacks Clark Kent, Sinestro sends Hal Jordan away into darkness, Green Arrow and Black Canary are ambushed by Clayface and Scarecrow, Cheetah attacks Wonder Woman, and many others face similar attacks by their nemeses. As Solomon Grundy, Metallo, and Parasite join the fight; Superman screams for help.

Elongated Man realizes something is wrong, as Luthor is informed of Brainiac's black spheres. Superman is saved by Captain Marvel. Wonder Woman defeats Cheetah, but is badly scarred. Other heroes are also saved, except for Green Lantern and Batman. Superman and Marvel realize Batman and Alfred Pennyworth are being mind controlled by worms. Helping Superman; Marvel throws him into the sun as it is the only way to get rid of them, and succeeds. Luthor sees the black spheres grow from the seas into huge cities. Giganta tries and fails to attack Ray Palmer, the Atom, in a hospital. Luthor orders Grodd to send the apocalyptic dream to Black Adam as many people migrate to the new sphere cities, among them a disguised Joker. Wonder Woman heads inside the Batcave and defeats Poison Ivy to save Batman, just as the Metal Men, Doom Patrol, and Zatanna all find Red Tornado, and learn Aquaman's location. The villains go ahead and attack the superheroes' sidekicks and loved ones. Hawkman and Hawkwoman find and destroy Toyman's warehouse which was being used to create Brainiac robots, just as Captain Marvel and Superman save The Flash. All the heroes head into the Fortress of Solitude. Black Manta kidnaps someone else to advance Brainiac's plan: Aquaman's son.

Capturing Captain Cold, Batman informs the League of the dream. Wonder Woman tells Captain Marvel that Cheetah's claws were poisoned and she is reverting back into clay. Green Lantern is saved by Phantom Stranger, just as he makes it to the Fortress with a returned Aquaman.

Captain Marvel and a strike force attack Grodd's lair and then Black Adam. In Gotham, Bruce Wayne takes Clark Kent to Leslie Thompkins to learn the villains' supposedly virtuous acts are actually making humans into organic machines. With the heroes back, the Metal Men form anti-worm battle armors and they take off to the climactic fight. The JLA fight the Legion in two fights: the major heroes fight above while some heroes fight below to save their loved ones. As the civilians and sidekicks are freed, and most of the Legion are defeated, Brainiac takes control of nuclear weapons around the world as Aquaman chases him down. Superman defeats Toyman, Batman and Martian Manhunter defeat Luthor and Grodd, the Green Lantern Corps stop all the missiles and Aquaman finally finds Black Manta and defeats him, saving his son. Zatanna's spell to help find Brainiac's true location takes them into outer space. Superman takes care of it before hurrying down to Earth to save Zatanna from the vacuum of space. The fight is finally over. Just as on Themyscira, Diana's mother prays to the gods and her daughter is restored, Batman reflects on the changes they've made to the world, and feels that someday the world really will be made into a better place. As Superman turns into Clark Kent, he is watched by the Legion of Super-Heroes of the 31st century.

What do you think? :yay:

Definitely, I was assuming that would be the first direction WB would go if the film got made. That seems like the gold standard to me. Evryone was so awesome in that book, especially Aquaman. I'm going out this Saturday to by the hardcover edition (My issues are scattered around in various stacks.

Not really. For one, it'd be something that didn't really resemble JUSTICE any more by the time any neccessary "tweaks" were done. It's all over the place, all kinds of random plot points converging, intersecting, and it's just not really very cinematic for it. The themes and ideas in it? Absolutely, that's the kind of thing a JLA movie should explore. But the actual story? Not so much.

^ How am I not surprised? :hehe:

From starters, I say cut the Joker. Having him in it could go bad.

yeah, the art's pretty but my lord, the story went into so many directions. And there was zero character development to boot too.

I see your point, but Like Protocida said it'd be a series. Of course there's going to be tweaks, but with multiple movies the writers have a chance to expand on and or add certain things to help character develpment (A good issue brought up by Octoberist) other than just jumping from hero to hero and villian to villain (Spidey 3).:facepalm Good god not the jazz club scene. If cards are played right this could easily go three or maybe more movies. If Spidey can do a six film deal then so can Justice League. But I really agree 100% on what you say about the themes and ideas aspect.

Oh, it'd be a series.

Then yes, it could work. Anything could work. I'd love to see at least thematic elements of JUSTICE in a JLA film. The story points themselves, I always found very average. It's sort of like KINGDOM COME lite, and not just because of Ross being involved.

:yay:

Being a Justice League movie series, I'd cut the other teams, except some Teen Titans if they've alredy been introduced in the solo movies. I'd also cut the minor heroes and villains. Reduce the numbers to key-characters. Add more character development scenes, cut others. It'd be a hard work, but I think it'd be a very sucessfull series if done right.

reading Justice League:Liberty and Justice by Paul Dini and Alex Ross, JLA:Year One and Justice would make a good movie with the main seven(Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash(Barry), Green Lantern(Hal Jordan0, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman) would make a great movie if they develop the characters in seperate movies so that movie goers would know the characters when the JLA movie comes out

I wouldn't mind it being animated or using those characters, nut live action would be hard especially for the first movie.

favorite dc book ever

it could work(it would be better as a mini-series animated)

Yeah, I've thought it'd be perfect for a movie series this entire time. When they announced that JLA movie all those months ago, I was hoping it was gonna be Justice. I'd actually want it to be CGI, so we could actually have Ross/Braithwaite's JLA in there. It'd be perfect.

Is the Absolute out yet?

October/November, problem is with Justice its a DCUniverse project. As much as it says justice league it had titans, doom patrol, marvels etc...

Nah, Justice's impact as a story was on fans that knew the villains inside and out. To a movie audience, they've seen these characters once if at all. The impact of people accepting their help would be lost.

The themes of Justice would work well, possibly even the general plot, but the entire thing is too drenched in prior knowledge of all the characters to work as a movie for the general audience.

That's what I mean with "tweaks and stretches". Remove/add/extent characters, scenes and etc. I'll develop more on that later.

Looking back, and I know this might seem crazy but what if it could be both a series and movie? Long running series getting movies is no stretch, so what if somehow either in live action, or animated all the characters from Justice can get introduced via series, and then the finale could be one big movie? That way if it costs too much (Which I'm sure it will/does) to give every character their own movie for character development, we could instead go a cheaper route for a weekly show, and then for when the big showdown happens, only one place can hold it: The Big Screen (preferably in Imax as well).

I dunno, I've always had it envisioned as a CGI movie series, something with the animation more like Advent Children than Beowulf (They tried to make that so real it looked MORE than fake). If it was a TV series, we'd just end up getting the same old Bruce Timm crap we've been getting.

Yeah, I said it.
Does not compute! DOES NOT COMPUTE!
