At least in the major and more realistic storylines.

I agree that Superman can't breath in space, but since when can't he fly in space? seriously, what storylines are you reading?

well strictly physically speaking he wouldn't be able to fly in space. he would only be able to use the gravitation of other planets and push himself into a certain direction and then just go on till he finds a planet to reverse the process.
