Comics Keeping or Dropping ASM?

I think i was misunderstood. I dont completely hate the clone saga because their are some great stories that came from it. I was just saying that i think the clone saga isnt half as bad as the spiderman comics we are getting today.

It really isn't. Why? In the end anything that seemed like a horrible idea to the Spidey mythos didn't end up being permanent. In actuallity, aside from Peter hitting MJ and Baby May's "kidnapping", I liked all of Clone Saga.

I only started reading ASM after CW finished b/c BiB caught my eye, and I'm content with what's going on. Strasynski (sp?) is making me smile so I have no reason to be angry.

But if JQ decides to get creative and do yet another retcon, ya I'll prolly drop it. I am enjoying OMD.

Exactly sloth i hated that peter hit MJ and i wasnt a big fan of the whole baby thing. The Ben was the real spiderman i wasnt to thrilled about. I liked most of the clone saga except for those parts.

I disagree. I'm an old-timer, too and I like the Clone Saga a lot, until Peter was the Spider-Man. I don't like Ben Reilly as Spidey but I like him as Scarlet Spider. It was awful at the time because we thought the change will be permanent. But we have received Peter back as Spider-Man. So it was good as an experiment. We could see Peter Parker as Spider-Man's sidekick.

I'm getting close to dropping ASM. If they break up the marriage, I think I definitely will.

It's not so much that I'm a huge Pete/MJ advocate, but it seems as though they could try something to make things work without just divorce/death/mystical retcon. I get that the start of the marriage came out of left field and I get that Pete married to a model takes away some of his everyman status, but there are ways to fix that.

Not only did I like the clone saga, but from his first shadowy appearance, I was hoping that it was the clone AND that it would be revealed that he was the real deal. I actually couldn't believe it worked out that way.

And before anyone starts throwing things, just calm down. You got your way. He's a big pile of goo now (of course, OMD is coming.... )

You're awesome too! But again, i think you're in the minority.

There were some great dynamics explored in the Clone Saga that we probably will never see again. I appreciated that way more than any on-panel fight during the Clone Saga.

Oh i missed yours Cap...seems like there are more people who DON'T HATE Ben Reilly than it seems. I prefer my Spider-Man to be Peter Parker too but sometimes he makes such stupid decisions...*cough*OMD*cough*...that I can't help but wonder if there's someone better for the job

I voted for probably keep buying ASM but if you guys are serious about the marriage ending and Harry and Gwen returning...then yeah, I'll definitely drop it after OMD. Which kinda sucks, considering I bought a subscription last month At least I'll get my $$ back.

Why would Harry and Gwen return neway? I only became a regular ASM reader after CW.

I HAVE dropped the 616 titles... and it's getting EASIER every Wed. to just drive by the comic book store WITHOUT stopping! It was a habit... and it was not that hard to break it.

Shouldn't we be getting another Essential book released some time soon?

Dropped it. I used to like JMS stories and teases of MJ and then actually bringing her back. Now he's one of JQ's B***ches so I completely dropped every Spider Title, cept Ultimate (since that doesn't relate to the 616 universe)

I agree with Spiderlover. If the marriage is gone, I'm not picking it up. I'll buy it when they keep the marriage. Spider-Man character is completely gone and it's all Joey q's fault. I turned to a complete DC fan. Justice League, Teen Titans, Black Canary/Green Arrow. Love em.

Actually, we do know. JMS said Peter's dilemma was to sacrifice his marriage to save his aunt. Where's the "bring back Gwen" stipulation?

edit: The source of the JQ quote was on here months ago, from Newsarama Joe Fridays interviews....on a link somewhere and was talked about extensively...i am not sure what thread it was in at this point. He talked about Gwen. The others at the interview interupted JQ and talked amongst themselves and then he changed the subject....for whatever reason.


I hope they aren't dumb enough to bring either one of them back, especially Gwen.
