Xbox Killer Instinct

I bought X1 soley for killer instinct, but I used my visa points so it didn't cost me anything so im not sure if that counts lol I had to pay for the game!

I did something similar with gift cards and reward points that I saved up for a long time, so........

Doesn't sound like you've exactly regretted it so far either! Still can't believe you preferred it to Mortal Kombat!

Playing KI has got me right back into beat'em ups. I know it's not popular but I just love Street Fighter X Tekken (due to my love of both franchises and being able to play with both Ryu & Kazuya in the same team) and was also getting back into Injustice (another great newcomer). Maybe I should give Mortal Kombat, Marvel Vs Capcom 3 and Soul Calibur IV a whirl while I'm at it!

so....ummm.....how do you do the Ultra combos?

everyone has a different ultra combo input, check the command list to show you what theirs is. You can only perform the ultra when your opponent reaches "danger" on their health bar, but you cant just do the ultra combo, it has to be linked within a combo, so you can do a combo opener then the ultra right after.

Even if you are in the middle of a big combo and their health reaches danger zones while you are comboing them, you can finish them in the same combo with the ultra

you can also do stage ultras which are harder, you need to be at a certain spot in the stages to do them (only 5 stages have stage ultras) but they are cool, they are like stage fatalities from MK

TJ combos stage your opponent gets hit by the wrecking ball, Hisako's stage your opponent gets pulled under by ghost hands, Aria's stage you can knock your opponent out the window to their explosive doom, Aganos' stage you can turn your opponent into a rock statue, and in Kan-Ra's stage your opponent gets hit by multiple stage items then gets sucked through a portal :p

nice! yeah I figured if im only going to get it for one game i'd feel less guilty about it if I got it for free :woot:

definitely have not regretted it, KI is my favorite fighting game this gen so far. I still like MK characters and stages best, but KI gameplay is funner than MK's I think, and for fighting games the more fun they are the longer I keep coming back, plus with season 3 on the horizon (and kim wu and tusk already confirmed for S3) I think KI is gonna be epic when all the content is released.

SFxTekken is quite fun, it was the on disc DLC and gem system that turned fans off that game though and why it died so quickly. Injustice was quite awesome as well, fun story and characters, if you get anything get the complete edition with all the DLC included. Marvel vs Capcom 3 (ultimate) is amazingly fun, its tied with killer instinct for funnest gameplay for me, out of everything you listed i'd recommend you play ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 if your gonna grab another fighter, you wont regret it (just dont get the vanilla release, get ultimate) Im not sure if you are referring to MK9 or MKX, I felt MK9 was a lot better (better roster, better story, tag team mode) MKX was beautiful in the graphics department, and had gameplay improvements but has a bad story and a roster that leaves a lot to be desired. SC4 was really fun, plus they made darth vader and yoda available in either version now as DLC so you can do yoda vs darth vader if you want, i preferred it to SC5 by quite a bit

Seems a lot of ppl have jumped back in to this(or are jumping in for the first time) i might have to go ahead and snag season 2 and get back into this myself. Battle some of you dudes.

that would be awesome Pat, you should post if you go ahead and get season 2

thanks.

I just input the Ultra command without doing it within a combo, so that's probably why it wasn't working for me.

and I got an X1 for more than just KI. :o

KI is like a nice cherry on top. :woot:

as for other fighting games, I really hope Ultra SF IV and SF X Tekken make it to the X1 BC list. That would help make up for X1 not getting SF V ( :cmad: ).

I'd also like to see Soul Calibur V make the BC list. I quite enjoyed that game, not for the story mode ( which sucked ), but because I could create my own character.

Looking forward to the next SC game, as well as Tekken X SF.

I could see Capcom not allowing MS to put the SF games on the BC list, simply because of their current deal with Sony. Hopefully they would though. NO company should say no to MS when it comes to BC. Theres no excuse for not allowing your old games, that you've already sold, to be played by your consumers

and that would be an extremely dick move on the part of Capcom and/or Sony if they did that.

as you said, there's NO excuse for that.

I'm usually playing different games with a bunch of regular friends when I get online but we should set up a date/time every 2/3 weeks where whoever can make it (and wants to) from here joins up for a KI session. Would be a good way for us to learn and practise against each other, get better and have a ton of fun!

Well there is a reason. So they can remaster it and get a additional sales out of said games

Besides I don't see what this has to do with Sony. BC wasn't even a thing when they started working with Capcom and they'd really have no say in this

sounds good.

but I need to practice and lean the basics/fundamentals some more.

I managed to pull off my first Ultra combo as Maya last night! :woot:

but seeing the crazy a** combos that the AI opponents kept pulling off on me makes me realize I have a lot to learn......lol.

It could be something as simple as Capcom not wanting to put any SF product on a rival platform due to the marketing of the exclusive game on another platform. I'm not saying this will be the case, at all. I'm saying I wouldn't be surprised to see Capcom not allowing MS to add any SF game to their BC library because of what they are currently doing with Sony. It's not far fetched at all, assuming you understand how these deals can work, like I do.

It would only be an issue if Capcom were to port USFIV over to the XB1, bc Sony actually paid to have that game remastered. A native 360 game being emulated on the system is a different thing and wouldnt fall under that deal. I can see USFIV not being added more as a goodwill to Sony for funding the PS4 version, but the other games? Nope. They are fair game, no pun intended. Capcom's last gen fighters are old games and really dont take away from anything they are doing with Sony now

I don't necessarily disagree with you, Im just stating how these partnerships can work. You mention goodwill, that could easily encompass any SF title. Again, im not saying this is how it is or is this even my prediction, im just saying if SFIV doesnt show up on MS's BC list, iv got a pretty good hunch as to why.

sadly that could be the case. :csad:

but let's hope not.

if that does happen, I'll be really ****** at Capcom as well as Sony if Sony does indeed have something to do with it.

I don't know anything beyond punches, kicks and throws yet! Good to learn with someone else who hasn't played it much. Plan to learn everything eventually but actually won online a couple of times and against the AI with just that haha.

The AI rewards spamming way too much. All the win 10 match-in-a-row survival challenges have been easy using spamming once you find out the weakness of the opposing character but the second I stop spamming I get hit with a 48 hit combo. It's a bit boring in that respect to only be hit by long combos and no regular attacks. The combos would seem a bit more special if they didn't happen every second.

Haha, love your posts Sparta..love your enthusiasm for all these beat'em ups! I own all those already, just a case of finding time to play any of them seriously. :csad:

SC4 was much better than 5, really great game. MKX I've hardly spent any time on yet, was talking about MK9. Serious shame that SF X Tekken hasn't succeeded (even if it is their own fault) as those are the 2 beat'em ups I've played most. Don't know what it is but I guess I love the characters of beat'em ups and now that KI is so much expanded from launch with season 3 to come, it's really delivering on that front too.

lol thank you Iceman, im passionate about fighting games because they are my favorite type of games and are pretty much the only games I can really get into and they have the best replay value

Anybody in here actually bought an Xbox One just for KI or Rare Replay? I've been saying only L4D 3 can push me to get a One, but these two Rare(-ish) titles are really tempting me to break that rule.

I bought it on day one solely to play Killer Instinct. And I have mostly played this game more than any other game so far on the console.

Full Trailer for Rash (for those who haven't seen it)

Haha awesome. One beat'em up character gets a longer trailer than some films. :woot:

Killer Instinct Season 3 To Release Exclusively From Windows 10 In March. January 4, 2016 . 8:30am

During a Killer Instinct Twitch livestream,
Microsoft Studios creative director Adam Isgreen also confirmed that the character Tusk would be joining the game’s roster,
along with Kim Wu and the Battletoad Rash.

During a recent Killer Instinct Twitch livestream, Microsoft Studios creative director Adam Isgreen revealed a batch of new information on Killer Instinct: Season 3, which is slated to launch in March, exclusively through Windows 10.

Isgreen also confirmed that the character Tusk would be joining the game’s roster, along with Kim Wu and the Battletoad Rash, the latter of which was announced during Gamescom last Summer.

Here are some more details revealed during the livestream, compiled by galaxxus on Reddit.

  • An updated Dojo Tutorial

  • Tusk and Kim Wu have been confirmed to appear at launch and both will have retro costumes

  • More characters will be available at launch than there were in the launch of Season 2. The remaining few will be available in the coming months.

  • Everyone on the roster will have tweaks to help balance the game to compensate for the new features and mechanics being introduced in Season 3.

  • Two characters that are currently on the roster will be re-worked. That means their set ups and how they gain meter will be different. It is confirmed that these two characters are not Glacius, Aganos, or Shadow Jago.

  • Although Ultimates for every character isn’t confirmed, it is possible for all the characters to receive Ultimates due to the tech they developed when they created ARIA.

  • They will reveal more information at Pax South in San Antonio, TX sometime between January 29-31

  • There will be more community bundles in Season 3 due to the success of the Shadow Jago Fund Raiser. The purpose of the Fund Raisers will be determined by the community on what they want to see in Season 3 that didn’t make the cut by launch. So if you want to see a certain guest character, stage, mode, feature, ect. that didn’t make the cut, make yourself heard. They are actively seeking out the community’s input.

Killer Instinct: Season 3 will launch through Windows 10 in March. To clarify, “Windows 10 exclusive” means that it’ll only be available through the Windows 10 store. It will also be available for Xbox One.
