Knocked-Up...Spin-Off?!

How Paul Rudd keeps getting movies is a mystery to me...

And he's.... you know.... funny.

I think Paul Rudd is relatable , I like his personality.

I didn't like them, but did you see how much money that Ugly Truth and Twenty Seven Dresses made? Killers and Life as We Know It didn't do that well but I think that was after all her public meltdown stuff.

Yeah. I was pretty shocked how much Ugly Truth made. I mean, Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl together doesn't exactly scream 'instant hit'!

Let's not be harsh on Apatow. 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Funny People were original films. We can allow him to make a sequel/spin-off.

I think it makes sense if he had a script idea that utilized the same couple archetype as Mann and Rudd's characters in Knocked up, and he had those to planned to play the parts.

I didn't really like Knocked Up but I've liked every other movie Apatow was involved with, so I'd give the spin-off a shot. I hope the commercial failure of Funny People doesn't deter him from trying to be more ambitious, though.

I will not be seeing this. Hated Knocked Up. I like many love me some Paul Rudd but he can't get me to see this. Paul Rudd is one of my favorite comedic actors but Dinner with Schmucks was my first disappointing romp with Rudd so I won't be doing that again.

Agreed.

This idea sounds pointless though, why doesn't Apatow come up with something new?
Knocked Up was supposed to be about Rogen's character from 40YOV. At least long enough to nail down a story.

I don't see how using two of the supporting characters and bumping them up to leads doesn't make it different. It's not like it'll be about her getting knocked up. It will probably be about them trying to fix their marriage. With Rogen in a cameo perhaps.

Just watched Dinner for Schmucks for the first time last night. I enjoyed it.

While I did enjoy Dinner for Schmucks, I found it disappointing also.

Hi,

what did you expect from a French movie remake ? The only one that worked OK was True Lies ( La Total in French ) with the help of Arnold and lots of actions and explosions.

I thought it was okay, but ultimately forgettable. I gave it 6/10 I think.

The Other Guys (a film that you will either really love or really hate) was much better.

I didn't even know it was a remake...and I guess I was expecting something hilarious?

I'd give it about that. I still haven't seen the other guys. :csad:

I loved the Other Guys. I thought the jokes were really funny even though the second half of the film wasn't as good, Michael Keaton saved that film from going to crap.
I thought everybody in the movie was good, but yeah, Keaton was great in it. I was shocked by how much I loved The Other Guys. I went in thinking it was going to be ok, but came out completely surprised.

The Fr version was huge here ( it was a play before a movie if I recall ), I didn't saw the US version yet so I can't tell how much it was changed.

As much as I like Paul Rudd and I think Leslie Mann in okay in small doses, Apatow needs some new people in his films. He doesn't need to always go with Rudd, Mann, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill or Jason Segel. That's why I have high hopes for the Pee Wee Herman film he's producing.
