That's true... however, we've been pretty good at keeping positions of power even in countries where we are the minority. I'm not talking about the use of force, either, such as South Africa during apartheid, but in countries like Mexico, etc.

Asians seem to be pretty good at flourishing in cultures where they are a minority, so long as that culture is accepting of others, as well.

Oh yeah, things change, and I must admit I'd be a little surprised if America is as powerful in 1,000 years as it is today.

White people would probably not do well in a country where a non-white majority was very racist towards us, just as Asians, blacks, etc. obviously wouldn't fare well in a racist white society.

That's why I hope society in general is pretty accepting of others in 50 years when white people will most likely no longer be the majority.

lol I HIGHLY doubt the US will be the dominant power in the world in 1000 years.

After all, within the last thousand years the British, French, Romans, Mongols, and Vikings have ruled the world.

On a side note and to end it for me tonight...

Does anyone remember that baseball player who made that racial comment?

He was really reluctant to admit he was wrong until he seen the damage it did to his career. Later on (I believe) he sort of recanted the half-ass apology he gave. I think he then later gave another interview where he did a little Dixie Chick manuver and totally recanted by saying, "I was just saying what was on my mind."

This is a racist jerk, and he couldn't even redeem himself when given the chance. If Richards is sincere and not nursing hate in his heart then he will have nothing to worry about, rather he goes on Apollo or just retires to his hole.

But after watching the video and having worked a stage before, if someone heckles you, they should be able to take it.

Maybe his comments were a tad over the line, but it would have never happened if the hecklers had shown a little more class and respect.

And in this day and age of "Oh No... we musn't say things to hurt other people's precious feelings", I'm glad Michael Richards had the balls to stand up to his hecklers and give'em a taste of their own medicine.

He's not a racist... he was just pissed off and the race card was too easy to play.

Not reading over 20 pages but my thoughts on a few things:

1. I gotta say I'm dissapointed in how he handled this, it wasn't just a one word slip, he went sorta berzerk. I could understand him cursing him out but to stoop to the level of racial slurs is low. And the hecklers who used the term "cracker" were wrong for saying that.

2. About the N word in general. I don't feel it should be used by ANYONE. I'm black and I'd never use that word to greet another person. I've heard arguemnts of people saying it's a way to take back the word and remove it's power. I'm sorry but I don't see it, an insult is still an insult. Just because a black person uses the word, it doesn't make it magically nicer.

BEING A RACIST and SAYING A RACIST COMMENT are two separate things. Michael Richards said racist comments, but that doesn't necessarily make him a racist.

I'm not justifying his comments, just simply pointing out the difference.

No... when your mad and you make racist comments, you're not a racist.

He handled it poorly, and he should have attacked their intelligence (or lack thereof) or something to that effect.

He played the race card, which is too easy (even though minorities can poke fun of white people all the time and we're supposed to think it's funny because it would probably "offend" said minority if we didn't laugh at their jokes ).

I wouldn't call Micahel Richards a racist nor will I ever (unless he becomes a card carrying member of the KKK). He's worked professionally over the years with jews, blacks, oriental... heck, even a midget, and I doubt he thought less of them.

He got mad and handled the situation poorly.

Anyone can make a mistake... and we shouldn't crucify the poor guy becasue I'm sure we ALL have our own demons in the closet... some much worse than anything uttered on that stage.
