I just saw this on the Colbert Report, and this is a real site:

It's called, kwedit.

Basically, this is a site where your kids can take out loans to buy internet games or things for internet games, and pay for them later. If your kids can't pay, a family member or friend gets "passed the duck" where responsibility for paying them back goes to you. If you pay your bills on time, you can buy more expensive stuff. If you don't, your "kwedit" score goes down.

I am appalled by this, yet wish I had thought of a scam like this!

I just saw this tonight as well. I think its stupid enough that facebook.com offers virtual stuff for real cash dollar too. This website is dangerous for our younger kids, and parents need to wake up and monitor their children internet activities.

Completely agreed. I am horrified that something this irresponsible can fall through the cracks. I am all for capitalism, but this is irresponsible in so many ways.

I can't even fathom a person even a child dumb enough to buy something for a silly internet game. I mean it's not even enchanted or anything...

It's a plot to raise an entire generation that's willing to go into credit debt for non-existent digital goods. Like that guy who paid $40,000 for a virtual island in some MMO.

Is that facepalm there because it was you, Katie? Is it because people keep saying your a guy when mentioning this incident and you always get annoyed with it? Is it a facepalm of shame as ever since you did that you've regretted every moment of it?

Or is it just that you think that the guy who did that was a complete idiot?

:p
