Last time I discussed how HDTV and other TV's are a scam. that thread is out there somewhere. this time I want to discuss this scam that's going on and been going on for years and no one has done anything about it.

So last week I went to buy a 12 pack of coors original beer. I was taxed and then charged about a dollar for Recycling fees. I told the lady behind the register. "lady, the price is 10.99. why am I paying 13 dollars?" she said, "CA tax and recycle fees".

well guess what? I never actually get my money back! I never get my five cents back for each can..so why do I have to pay for it? it is the law? do you have a choice? I am not sure, maybe you can help me with that...I think we should have a choice, pay the fee's or not...because I don't have time to gather my empty cans and go recycle.

here's an idea, whenever I buy something where I have to pay CRV, why don't I use this card and swipe it..later on, the state of california refunds me that money to my recycle card. that way I don't have to pick up my cans and get the money that way.

basically, this is a scam, the state knows that no one will ever go recycle and they keep the money..if there is a total figure of how much money the state makes from CRV, i'd love to see it. I assure you it's millions of dollars and yet all of these bottles and cans end up in the trash.

We should get a refund without having to do work. Here at my work we have those blue trashcans..I always put my cans and bottles there, I DID MY WORK!!!! SO WHERE'S MY MONEY?

Discuss.

you get the money when you take them to a place that pays for the cans like the can and bottle machines you see in grocery stores in areas that have the 5 cent refunds.

The root of the problem lies in your poor beer selection.

Think of that fee as an extra charge to you for not recycling and helping take care of our environment. If you do what Dave Mc Fly said, then you get your money back...no problem.

my friend ashley brought up something like this last night, she says she hates how products show a price like lets say 99 cents or 1.00

she hates how theres always that 8 or more cents tax on products, she only had a dollar and was thirsty went up to the counter and couldnt buy it, cuz she didnt have 8 cents. (i lent her the rest)

imo its bull

same thing with the mcdonalds dollar menu, it aint a dollar, its 1.08....

dammm taxx lawsss!!!

Your last thread was perhaps one of the dumbest thing I've ever read due to it's ignorance. Go recycle... wow... is it that hard?

yea recycling costs more money than it saves in the long run actually, most recycling plants are operating in the red as of this year. however, who the hell rants about the price of beer and the taxes issued? don't buy the beer if you have to post about how much the taxes bother you, make moonshine, no taxes there. aluminum does not break down, so however many cans we have today will be the same/more tomorrow. so please recycle, it just makes sense.
