I grew up on this show. This could be pretty cool. It was campy action w/ a bit of comedy. Will Ferrell to star. I thought I made a thread about this last year but can't find it.

Universal OK's 'Land of the Lost'

Will Ferrell comedy to cost $100 million

Universal is pushing the button on "Land of the Lost" for a March start.

Decision to greenlight the Will Ferrell project surprised observers, who are aware that U had a rough ride with its $160 million comedy "Evan Almighty." Studio sources suggest the budget of "Land of the Lost," described as an event comedy, was recalibrated from $125 million to $100 million in order to earn its start date.
Brad Silberling will helm the bigscreen adaptation of Sid & Marty Krofft's children's skein of the same name. Jimmy Miller is producing along with the Kroffts; Julie Wixson-Darmody and Daniel Lupi exec produce.
Decision to move ahead effectively removes Ferrell from availability for other pre-strike projects on the cusp, such as "Himelfarb" for Warner Bros. The comedian has been attached to "Land of the Lost" for several years. Miller reps Ferrell and the Kroffts, who have long tried to get a bigscreen adaptation of their show made.
Adaptation by Chris Henchy and Dennis McNicholas revolves around a disgraced paleontologist, his assistant and a macho tour guide who find themselves in a strange world inhabited by dinosaurs, monkey people and reptilian Sleestaks. Donna Langley spearheaded the effort to obtain rights from the Kroffts, who also produced and created smallscreen skeins such as "H.R. Pufnstuf," "Lidsville" and "Donny and Marie."

*still holding out for Jurassic Park 4 news*

Though this should be fun.

As soon as I saw Universal I just thought "you'd think they would've learned their lesson from Evan Almighty."

Ferrell is a draw, but this is a bad idea.

I loved Land of the Lost as a kid. I don't like the idea of Ferrel doing it even though I love his movies. I don't want a straight up typical Will Ferrel comedy. I wanted an action movie with some comedy thrown in.

Hollywood and '70s TV...isn't it sad what happens when cousins marry?

No not really. Lethal Weapons stories were basically all taken from episodes of chips and expanded.

Sleestaks used to scare the **** out of me when I was little. Oh and this will suck.

I think it's gonna be funny as hell. Will the do the Dino's in a campy way or make them look all Jurassic Park'd out. :)

I was wondering what happened to this project. It was first announced about 2 years ago.

I really liked the original LOTL because the episodes were actually written by real sci-fi authors and were surprisingly sophisticated at times considering it was a live-action Saturday morning show.

I don't like to watch stuff that looks hoaky... call me crazy. I liked the LotL revamped series they did in the early 90's. Mmmm... Christa (drool out the side of my mouth)

yeah I saw LOTL 90s version. It was terrible, but in a good way. That one cave woman was hot.

So they're using costumes. I assume the 100 million isn't going to that. If it is, somebody is skimming a lot of **** off the top.

lol. I had action figures of the 90's show...

There was no dino roar after the end lyrics, was it?

I was positive they were going to make them CGI, but they do look pretty eerie.

I like the way the heads look too big for the bodies.
Reminds me of the aliens from Mars Attacks.

You know I may of hated the 90's Remake show but I always thought there Intro was a lot better than the Old one

Anyway the Sleestacks look cool kinda like what the old ones looked like.

Here are the new Sleestaks for ya...

Here's another new pic from EW, this one showing Marshall, Will and Holly as the Sleestaks sneak up behind them...

I'm kind of surprised that Holly isn't blonde. Smart move making her older than in the TV show to keep the teen boys interested, however.
