Laptop frequently crashes

Recently, I've noticed that my laptop computer would crash for no apparent reason, and often when I'm just browsing a website or forum (like SHH). There are some programs in the background, but I don't run many of them. I tried to scan for viruses using AVG, but it turned up nothing. Right now I can experience about 2-3 crashes a night. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem that doesn't involved buying a new computer?

You'll need to give more information than that like the OS, browser, laptop model/age, what if/any addons you use and what recent changes you've made to the OS like any new software or patches.

Could be a software issue or possibly a hardware issue, if it runs hot then that can cause problems so try cleaning your laptop's fan or get an external cooling fan for your laptop if that doesn't work then replace the internal fan.
