hey folks.

I've got some issue I think with my d-drive.

My computer crashed and then I got it fixed
Then I crashed again then I got it fixed
Then guess what...

It crashed again. then I got it fixed.

But on the Third crash I noticed something before I really crashed.

when I turned it on and it ran the windows runner thing the screen went blue and it said something like - -

Windows is going to check your D-Drive for (consitancy?) or something to that effect then if I don't skip it it runs some sort of scan.

Now, because that happened the last time it crashed. After I got it fixed It didn't do it. But then a day or two ago It started back up with the whole "must check your d-drive"

Why? Why is this happening??

I've done a Virus scan and nothing pops up - except for the fact that some files it can't get into because it's "Password Protected" which is odd because I have nothing protected by password.

I asked my buddy who fixed it all those times and he said

"Do not open your d-drive for any reason until you've done a scan"

I've done the scan. and nothing.

Look, I've got some important documents on that drive and I would like to continue work on them. But I don't want to open up the drive only to find out that what ever made my computer crash is awaiting on the drive - waiting and plotting for me to open it up and crash my computer for the fourth time

SO - What I am asking here is - Why is this happening and how can I fix it ASAP - the documents are time sensitive.

THANKS FOR ANYONE WHO HELPS A BROTHER OUT.

How did they "fix" your system? For issues like this usually a backup of any important files and a format of the system is what I'd recommend if a virus/spyware scan doesn't pull anything up and it keeps coming back this way.

It seemed that the first few times we just threw in the windows disc and fixed what ever errors windows had as a result of what ever kind of virus is within the system.

The last time. The most recent time my computer crashed, we backed up anything that was really important. then reformated the computer and when we did it, it was as if I had just pulled the thing out of the box brand new.

then as I said before, the "checking the d drive" thing didn't happen for a few days now it's started all over agian.

wtf

Hold on so your D:/ has windows on it or is D:/ a slave drive?

Do not open your d-drive for any reason until you've done a scan

lol

anyway. you might have a corrupt hard drive, simple thing is buy a new one (they are cheap as hell at the moment) and transfer your files (if d: was the slave) or reinstall windows on it (if d: had your operating system on)

Funny because on 90% of pcs, d: is normally assigned to the cd/dvd dirves on a freash install and c: is what windows is on.

Yeah - I believe the D was a slave.

I was thinking about just going and buying a new drive but then my friend told me I may as well keep the cash and throw it into a Apple desk top because he can get me one for 3 bills. (300)

All I know is that some important scripts are on that drive. And I am a-scared as hell to open up the d drive to finish and print them

I WOULD have done a back up

But saddly I am so computer stupid I never gone and backed up the phucking thing.

how boned am I?

If its your slave then to make sure thats causing the problem, unhook it inside your pc and boot up again, if the problem goes you have a corrupt hard drive, then plug it back in, if you can still get on the drive, move your stuff you want to keep back onto c: and throw the slave away and get another one! simple.

if its corrupt no point putting it into any other systems you`ll have the same problems
