I'm thinking of buying a laptop/notebook. Any suggestions? I want one thats good for media related stuff like video editing, etc.
Thanks.
Thanks.
why? The computers I use at school and work are Dell and they are pretty good.
Then again...those are desktops.
Get a mac, it's simply better optimized for video editing than any pc.
Mac is a 1,000 dollars more than its competitors, but I have given it a serious thought.

I've got nothing against an HP, but if you're going the way of Windows I'd recommend Sony or Toshiba.[/QUOTE
As far as Windows PCs go, I would stick with a Toshiba. I haven't personally had one but I've heard that they are the best.
Stay clear of Compaqs also. I've had two different laptops from them and have had nothing but trouble for both.
Well, this is a great one for media needs. I want this one. I'm not going to put too many programs on it (I'm going to use my Desktop for software) I wanna use this for Gaming and Media Needs. It has an amazing graphic card (GeForce Go 7 series) and it's a pretty good price for a brand new laptop.

Price: $749.99 CAD (So like $748.60 USD Now )
DV9000T by HP
I have this laptop and I love it! 17 inch screen, double hard drives, a great graphics card and most importantly, able to play HD-DVD movies.
I'm not sure if they make it anymore, but it has another newer version, DV9500T

Tip: If your using it for Photoshop or After-Effects, they definitely work. But be warned, mine came with Vista Premium. If you don't like it, simply have a dual boot (thats my plan of the week). Dual boots can run two OS's on one machine via partitions.

What the hell are you saying? Not at all. First of all, Mac's hardware is no where near Windows computers. Only now they are starting to put amazing graphic cards and processors into the mac. And they are super expensive. Mac's look was the only thing going for it as well as a lot of the new software that came with it. Vista has caught up. They are roughly the same now. However, the computers with Vista generally have better graphic cards and you can get then from a $700.00 starting price. On what planet? When you compare a Mac system against a comparable Windows system with similar components, features and software the Windows systems OFTEN are much more expensive. If you're comparing a sh1tty low-end Windows box against a Mac, then you are not doing an Apple to apples comparison (pun intended). It's like saying I really like BMW's but they are way too expensive compared to a Hyundai.

Why would you need that? That's too much!
