I have a laptop that whenever I try to sign in to a website, it just won't let me.It takes me back to the homepage.Anyway I can stop it so I can sign-in?

Uhh...Toshiba I think. There's so many brand stickers on the laptop.

Try clearing out your cookies and cache. After, reboot to see what happens. Also check your settings and preferences as well.

It has nothing to do with your laptop model. This is a software-related problem.

hm... what homepage is it taking you back to? and when does it happen? after you press enter?

Yeah, after I press enter, it takes me back to the homepage of the site.

Example:When I go to log into http://www.hotmail.com and type in my password and e-mail and press "sign in", it just takes me back to the page as if I was going to sign in again.

Your laptop hates you :o

Speaking of laptop problems... what can I do to prevent it from freezing up? It has done it at least once per day for the last few days.

strange... try using another browser, or clear out your cache/cookies like others have said. it might also be a case of spyware or something, i don't really know.

I tried the other browser and cleared out the cookies/cache but it still doesn't work :/

it sounds like it's probably a spyware problem... do you have adaware or anything like that? i think it's still free.

I was just about to bring that up. Nobody has asked him what his homepage was.

Can anyone answer my freezing up once per day question?

There are several factors

1. Your hard disk might have bad sectors. If you have hibernation enabled, everytime your laptop goes into hibernation, the live data you're working on are transferred into a buffer in your hard disk. If this is the case, replace your hard disk, no compromise.

2. Your RAM might be faulty, if you use Norton Systemworks, use it to scan your RAM. If faulty, you know what to do.

3. Check your OEM's website for BIOS update. Maybe your OEM has released a software fix for your system?

4. Update your Windows frequently for patches, security fixes etc.

5. Check your OEM's website for faulty components. E.g. Dell recalls faulty batteries recently. Maybe yours affected.

Hope this helps.

What browser are you using? Which version?

If you're using Windows XP SP2, try download and use IE 7 (currently beta) and Firefox 2.0 and then, try accessing hotmail again and see if it works on both browsers.

Be sure to post it back here for results because your problem is rather peculiar. I never experienced your problem or any of the users here in my office. Hope this helps.

i had the same problem. i had mcafee security- i had to disable the privacy service
