Subbie debuted in 1939 in the wake of the Superman hero boom and a hare's breath after the original android Human Torch was first published.

Now THAT'S a comic I'd like to have in mint condition.

1963 i think. his first appearance in an x-men book , so first guest starring role? i dont know why i worded it that way. i'm tired. 12 hour shift today. pretty sure i'm already at 50 or more for the week with a day and a half to go

I have Avengers #40 "Suddenly the Sub-Mariner", but that's from 67. QS and SW are Avengers by then and not with the evil mutants.

Questions... Nothing but questions I'm afraid to get the answers for.

You fear death.... you think this makes you weak.... it makes you strong. How can you post faster than possible, dance longer than possible, without the most powerful impulse of the spirit... the Fear of Reek?

i bought so many of mine from the flea market. i think i have all of Joe Kelly's Deadpool run from one here.

i remember going to Jockey Lot once as a kid and was so overwhelmed. but my mom did buy me some comics to read on the 8 hour ride home lol

are you suggesting a country wide roadtrip where we hunt down old comic gems? Meh.. Fine.. I'll go... but don't touch my ****** radio.

Obviously, our stop In Cali-fornia will consist of extracurricular activities.

My people will contact your people and we can coagulate.

You'll need a new suit... Full upgrade.

Every couple of months I find a new use for this GIF. It's economical.

It is, with all certainty, the most influential GIF of our time.

I dunno, this one's pretty good. The ****ing tail.

Also, the Blue Jays just swept a four-game series against the Yankees, in New York, without ever trailing at any point in any game. No team has done that in almost a century. And they've won 8 games in a row. AND THEY'RE STILL IN ****ING FOURTH PLACE. I hate this division.

i would actually love to do something like that one day. doesn't necessarily have to be just comic gems.

I've always wanted to do something like that and go to various baseball stadiums. The top 2 on my list are Fenway and Wrigley because I've never been there. I've been to quite a few as I used to travel quite a bit. I was at the old Minnesota stadium before the roof collapsed. People in Minneapolis are really nice. I met a few in a bar. One of them told me they had 2 seasons; winter and building. Another drove a limo and for $25 took 3 or 4 of us on a tour all over the city for about 40 minutes. The stadium was rather surreal. First off, I don't know how outfielders could track the ball against the ceiling (it was some billowy kind of fabric or something). They had a little blimp they used to fly around that stadium between innings. Some wolf mascot with some kind of a pump rifle would shoot some wrapped up meat product at it. When it hit the blimp, they crowd went crazy. They also seemed to think they benefitted because a lot of said meat product made it into the crowd. It seemed like a lawsuit waiting to happen to me (not the getting hit part, but the eating it part), but no one seemed to mind. I wrote a story about it, but I'm pretty sure Hunter Thompson would have had an interesting take on it.

@InCali I'm trying to do the stadium thing too

i got to go to Fenway on a work deployment in 2019. i loved it. Did the tour and took a thousand pics lol.

i've tried to go to a stadium whenever i could.

Baseball Stadiums i've been to:
Fenway (Red Sox)
Camden Yards (Orioles)
PNC Park (Pirates)
Harbor Park (Orioles Triple AAA team)

Football Stadiums:
Bank of America Stadium (Panthers)
M&T Bank (Ravens)
Heinz Field (Steelers)
Fedex (Redskins, that's what they were called at the time)
University of Hawaii's Field

I was in the car riding past Turner Field during the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics, but I'm not going to count that.

Spring training would be fun too, but it's getting to be a bigger deal than it used to be.

I've been to

Jack Murphy
Petco
Dodger Stadium (duh....)
Anaheim (another duh...)
Candlestick
Oakland Coliseum
Pac Bell in SF
Milwaukee
Toronto
Minnesota
St. Louis (nothing but rotten beer)
Yankee Stadium
Chicago (South Side)

I think that's it.

I once saw the spire of Montreal's Olympic Stadium from about 5 blocks away. It may have just been a mirage. I'm going to count it.

I really liked the stadium in Toronto. Actually, I liked Toronto in general. I went to that restaurant that goes in a circle. I forget what they call it, but the elevators go really fast. Also went to Niagara Falls (Canadian side, which is much nicer than the "other" side by all accounts). Wonderfalls.....wish they hadn't cancelled that. @flickchick85 recommended it and it certainly didn't disappoint.

The restaurant in the CN Tower? I've never been, which seems like a shame since I went to university in Toronto. Though I did go to the observation deck when my friends from home visited. One of them was terrified of heights, so he did not appreciate the glass bottom floor, or how often the rest of us jumped on it.

:funny: Sounds like something I'd do.

It looked like the space needle in Seattle. It literally sticks out like a sore thumb. The woman I was seeing at the time was always getting motion sickness so she didn't want to go.

I just looked it up. It's called the 360 restaurant and in the CN Tower. Going out on a limb, I'm going to guess it got its name because it goes in circles. Toronto is such a beautiful city.

id love the stadium adventure... did any of you actually play baseball or just fans? I played through college and would have played further but injuries...

which explains why I am now 100% rebuilt and indestructible.

I played baseball in high school. Hockey is the only sport I played post-secondary...

which explains why my bones creak with resigned agony every time it rains.
