Then its either your connection on either end is ****ed (bent pin?) Or your graphics card is on the way out, you could test another monitor on your system? see if its defo the monitor

Can you switch the cabling from say an analog (serial) connection to a digital (dvi) connection? try that. Looks like the monitor is going bad. Reseat the video card.
