No, it has nothing to do with Eric Draven. No, I want to know about a movie that you trashed on these boards prior to its release & found that you actually enjoyed it. Have you been proven wrong about any comic book films?

I don't think many people would want to eat crow - it's like admitting a mistake and there is a lot of ego and chest-beating on here. And people online tend to move from love to hate not the other way round - i've seen many fairly positive opinions tainted and poisoned by others. That happened particularly with X3 where we once compared the rate and review thread at the time of the movie's release to a similar poll done about a year later when the X3 threads had descended into bitter bashing and rabid contempt.

From my own point of view, I enjoyed Superman Returns more at home (I got the collector's set of all Superman movies sent to me for free) - I didn't like it at the cinema at all, it was a crushing disappointment; and I enjoyed Spider-Man 3 a lot more at home on DVD (it was cheap in the supermarket) than at the cinema.

I also rewatched Dune recently and quite liked it! Now I want the watch the extended edition and see if it was improved.

X-men.

Thought it would be a trainwreck.

With the costume changes, having a model as Mystique and an unknown as Wolverine I was nervous that Singer didn't know what he was doing.

Boy, was I wrong. :D

Spider-man 3.

Loved the first two films but all I heard was awful things about the movie. While 3 isn't a good as the previous installments I still consider it an excellent film.

Captain America (1990)

Strangely I enjoyed its cheesiness. Salinger was a decent Cap and the Red Skull was perfect. One of my guilty pleasures.

My expectations were low to begin with it so that helped it, though.

Well, I have to admit I defended SR as much as I could. After waiting more than ten years for them to finally get that ***** done, I just wasn't ready to believe it was going to be anything less than the second coming. How wrong was I... Not that I think it's as bad as some make it out to be, but it sure was a disappointment.

Actually, I agree. I'm a big X-Men fan, but I have to admit, when I first read they were making an X-Men film, I laughed because I thought they would never be able to do it in a way that wasn't laughable. After I saw the movie, I was surprised at how well they managed to translate something that could have been really really bad.

I've been pretty supportive of everything but the ones I KNOW are going to suck (Catwoman, Wanted, etc.) and other than Superman Returns, which I was always a bit cautious about, and Hulk, which I expected to be much better and really let me down, I've been at least ok with all the recent comic book movies...

I'm eating a little bit of crow myself honestly...I was SO against "Iron Man" at first but now I'm really looking forward to it.

Probably Blade II. I thought it was just another attempt to cash in on the first one, as we didn't really have any real superhero flicks as of late. But it was an excellent flick.

Same here.

Hulk was good it just didn't get all the elements right. I'm glad that Ang Lee made it intelligent only he went a bit to far in that direction. Like SR it needed more action. The ending was to confusing which hurt it, too. It was so close to being perfect. :(

It's to bad Marvel didn't want Ang Lee and co. for the sequels.

Hopefully they won't go in the other direction with total action and no intelligence behind it in the Edward Norton movie.

I thought Fantastic Four, Superman Returns, and X-Men 3 would be good. I'm willing to admit I was wrong.

I thought Fantastic Four 2 would be worse than the first. Marginally better, it turned out.

I've never judged films before release; even if they don't look promising, I'll say they don't look promising but hope they turn out well.

I've changed my opinion on films after watching them again....I used to dislike Blade, The Shadow, Rocketeer, The Crow, TMNT, now I am a fan of all of these.

I can't say I've ever done that. If anything, my dislike of certain films has diminished but remained pretty much intact.

For me its Hulk, never really thought much of Ang Lee's movies, and thought Crouching Tiger was severly over-rated, so i though Hulk would be crap, and ended up loving it, Superman Returns i was indifferent too, yet ended up loving that as well.

Fantastic Four, it's not a great movie but it was better than Daredevil, Hulk, Superman Returns and Ghostrider. For some reason I liked it, it was a fun peice of fluff.

Blade 2 is the biggest one. I thought that it was going to suck, turns out it was awesome and my favorite comicbook movie.

On this site, not that I know of, though I trashed The Hulk to all my friends, but ended up loving it. On the reverse, I praised SR (a few times on this site even), but ended up hating it.

So, I have yet to eat crow on this site.

I take back every negative thing I said about Downey playing Iron Man.

Well, isn't this thread a helping of irony.

What a waste of energy that might be better served as skepticism.
