Letters of Iwo Jima worth the purchase?

I love war movies!!! This movie was nominated for best picture and it has one of my favorite actors Ken Watanabe! But i didnt like the other eastwood movie "Flags of our Fathers" Too liberal for my taste But anyways to those "very few" who have seen this movie is it worth the purchase?

As you said 'very few',as the movie did'nt really show at alot of theatres. To be nominated as best picture? Thats all hype imo..when a movie is only showing in a select cities,makes me wonder on how good it really is..
Flags was an okay movie,they tried to follow the book too much. Too many cut scenes imo,and far as political overtone,it was there,but /shrug wasn't that bad.
I read 'so sad to fall in battle' it was a decent read nothing ground breaking. Im assuming 'letters from Iwo Jima' will follow the same pattern as Flags did. Lots of flash backs to disrupt the movie flow,but will check it out this afternoon..
I don't buy many movies anymore its just too expensive. Glad I dont have HD tv,lol I'd be buying those overpriced movies....

Well bought the dvd and I must say its a great movie!!! Worthy of an oscar nomination no doubt!!! Way better than flags!!! See it now people!

You made a great decision. I think it deserved the Best Picture Oscar, becasue it was the best movie last year. This movie is truely a gem, and another great piece of work by Clint Eastwood (as was Flags of Our Fathers, but Letters From Iwo Jima was better).

I say yes, but it might not be for everyone (at least to purchase). I'm biased, because my grandmother is Japanese and I love all things related (film, music, anime, etc.)

I got it on Blu-Ray the other day (along with Afro Samurai), and it looks great.
