Ever since I first saw Madame Rouge in the re-imaging of the JLA by Kurt Busiek, I've had an odd fascination with this ductile character(countring herself, her daughter Gemini, Plastic Man and Elongated Man, DC now has four characters who can stretch their bodies like rubber bands or assume the appearance of others-right down to mimicking their voices).
"Mon cher, do not be barbaric-eet is not polite to strike a lady", Rouge cooes seductively as she wraps her impossibly sinuous body, boa constrictor style around Aquaman's(true, the reason was to crush the air-and possibly the life-out of the individual concerned just as her daughter Gemini tries to do with Batgirl, but the erotic overtones of a female wrapping her body around a male's (Aquaman's) or another female's (Batgirl's) should be obvious to any perceptive observer. Although by no means invincible(both mother and daughter are all too vulnerable to fire and electricity), simple physical blows are useless- like hitting a bag of Jello- it just gives or stretches without necessarily causing physical pain(like Marvel's Blob) Rouge, at least had the excuse of having schizophrenia for her anti social conduct(although she forgave Beast Boy with her dying breath and called to Niles Caulder , her one true love),but Gemini(who seems to have inherited her mother's mental instability as well a variant of her costume) is more culpable in her joining the Brotherhood of Evil, mom's old group-what a superheroine she could have made!
Anybody think as I do?
