It might turn out to be a triology but, not a well known one that makes Fox 100s of millions. Furthermore, Fox calling this a triology means nothing if the first film is a financial failure. Godzilla, Van Helsing, Lost in Space, and Eragon were all meant to have sequels but, these films had very unfavorable profit percentages that influenced the studios responsible for them to scratch plans for sequels.

The Pirates and Matrix examples aren't the best examples because movies 2 and 3 were made at the same time for both franchises. Most critics hated movie 2 for both franchises. Interestingly enough the final film had the worst domestic profit percentage in both series. I don't know anyone personally who liked Matrix Revolutions and Pirates 3. All my friends hated both films with a passion.
Your 19 house cats don't count:o :woot:

I just found out on IMDB.com that Goyer had a hand in writing the script, no wonder the story is a piece of **** :(

Goyer's screenplay was so radically different from what we all saw. He didn't have the whole chase structure, and deviated only a little from the original source material. As I've heard many saw.

The film has just been released in France, I saw him and I found him just nice I mean, there is any emotion in the film, the story is badly (the length of the film is a factor) and s**t, french dubbing is really rotten !
Rest then these impressive scenes Jump, it's fantasy!

The movie wasn't bad. It was better than I thought it would be. I didn't care really much for Rachel Bilson's character in most of the movie, but at the end of the movie, she seemed better.

How is this for a sequel idea. Roland & the Palidans agree to leave David & everyone he knows alone based on a few terms & all of that stuff & there is a rogue Palidan group that just hates the idea that they are letting David to them "go free" & they take it upon themselves to kidnap David & they do. But before this happens since Mary thinks they are leaving David alone she starts a relationship with David & all of that stuff & soon affter David gets kidnapped & then David is put in an electric cell with a bunch of other Jumpers in their own cell including Griffin. Then Roland & Mary team up to go & save David & take out the renegade Palidans & Mary dies saving David leaving Roland & David to team up with the other Jumpers & get out of there & kill the renegade Palidans & this can help Roland see that not all Jumpers are bad & the Palidan company would eventually get disbanded leaving the Jumpers alone but obviously not all rogue renegades would be killed & the rogue renegades can turn Jumpers evil or something with a brainwashing device to do their dirty work saving Jumper VS Jumper for the third movie

Periods are your friends.

Not a bad idea though.

REFLEX:

David is living Happy with Millie, lefting everything behind. During a week in vacation, David is attacked and arrested by Charles Moss, director of the CIA. He is put in a cell with Griffin, pissed because David let him to die in Rome.

David and Griffin are send by Moss to get in to a Jumper terrorist cell know as ''Reflex'', controlled by a problematic Jumper called Willard. David and Griffin must impeach Willard and his mates to kill two world leaders and make a Third world war.

The things go wrong when Roland, saved by the Paladins, convince himself that David and Griffin are ACTUALLY part of the ''Reflex'' and attack them, revealing that David's Mother killed Griffin parents.

David and Griffin fight, while the Paladins attack the Reflex soldiers. The CIA gets involved and there's a bi war in the world peace convention. Griffin attacks David Mother, that says she didn't killed his parents. Then, Griffin is arrested by... His older Brother!

Willard is actually Griffin brother, and Killed his parents using a Jumper hability to create ''Jumpercopys''. Griffin gets in a fight and is saved by Millie, that decided to help David.

Big fights and Happy Ending.

That would actually be pretty sweet. Did you just make that up or is it based off more of the original book series?

I saw this movie last night and it was better than I thought and I enjoyed it. I loved the special effects and all the traveling, the production values of the film are class but that's pretty much all its got going for it. The fight between David and Griffin is exhilarating and thrilling. I also enjoyed Jamie Bell is perhaps the only actor who hands in an entertaining performance but this might be because of my time spent in England. Hayden Christiansen is pretty boring as he gives a stoic face throughout the film. Samuel L. Jackson phones in yet another performance, its as if he not even trying anymore to do something different. As for Rachel Bilson, I sense she might have some acting chops however she simply retreading her performance as Summer from the OC. The problem with the film is really the script and the fact that the characters are so generic and two dimensional that nothing really happens throughout the film. This though is a problem found in anything Goyer touches(including Batman Begins to some extent, thankfully he has nothing to do with Dark Knight). What Goyer will do is fill a film with interesting plot devices to fill a film and get characters from Point A to Point B but there's absolutely nothing going on underneath with the characters. So by the time you get to the end you feel completely unsatisfied because nothing really happened and nothing has really changed. This is Jumper in a nutshell is that it has no characters outside an excuse for spectacle.

I Only took the ''David becoming agent against his will'' and the Name ''Reflex''.

Saw the movie. Now reading the book. The book is pretty good. I'm trying to track down Reflex. And am considering purchasing Jumper: Griffin's Story. Can't wait to see if there is a sequel. (Hopefully there will be) I'd be interested in seein David's mother meet the same demise she met in the first book. I was completely caught off guard by that. But enjoyed the movie. enjoyed it better than the first Bourne Identity movie.

Vantage point and the spiderwick chronicles knock Jumper out of first and second place at the boxoffice. Looks like Jumper will struggle to break 70million domestically at this point.

It got its budget back World Wide though so thats what counts :woot: Sure the Domestic Box Office might not exactly be much to brag about but the end does justify the means

IS there a sequel to the book? And the game looks like it sucks but idk.

Not exactly. Fox won't see a profit until the world wide gross reachs over the 170million mark because theaters playing Jumper take half the profit. Furthermore, this film has no chance at making 2.5 times it's budget. A straight to DVD sequel might be likely but, not a theatrical one unless Fox wants to lose more money.

Just saw it, I really liked it. I can't believe it got panned by everyone. The ending felt rushed but other than that I liked it. The jumping effect was awesome and Hayden was much better than I was expecting (which means he was just ok).

That was one of the best attributes about the film.

They didn't skimp on the Jumping. Unfortunately, the novel doesn't have much Jumping.

Actually, Goyer wrote a thirty-page treatment in which Jonathan and Chris based the film on.

I like it... except for the Jumpercopies part, it's unnecessary and it makes the power even more abusable. Not a good idea.

Also, it's hard to explain Jumpers taking a long time to do something, so there should really only be 3-5 Reflex Jumpers.

But I like the idea a lot...

Okay finally saw this today, pretty good and fun flick. I give it a 7/10. I'm happy to see that Hayden doesn't suck the life out of the film like he did in the prequels (IMO). And I enjoyed Bilson's character of Millie, then again I could watch Bilson clip her toenails for 2 hours and be entertained.

I'd like to see the movie get a sequel but it probably won't. Also, I can see this reaching a bigger audience on dvd.
