It's an interesting read. Gould doesn't solely focus on his ability to jump.

probably not, and if it does, it will be just barely. and that's not counting all the money spent on marketing, because for the last 2 months, all you saw on tv was 'jumper' previews. this movie was definitely not even close to the hit that they wanted it to be, as well it shouldn't have been. it was a mediocre movie, and as such, made a mediocre box office return.

Even if the movie makes it's money back there probably won't be a sequel. These movie companies aren't in the business of making films that merely make back their budget or slightly over their budgets. Half of the world wide gross goes to theaters playing these films. This movie needs to make over 170million worldwide before Fox sees any profit. DVD sales and mercandise will help Fox make some money but, I doubt that would influence Fox to make more movies considering other factors that will increase the budget.

Agreed but, I'm merely stating facts and plausible theories for why people shouldn't get too excited for the possibility of sequels being made for this film. History has shown that films with sequel potential that have worldwide grosses less than 2.5 times their budgets usually don't get sequels. Of course the X-files 2 is an example that breaks this rule, yet it took Fox 11 years to make the movie and it's summer release time is suicide.

Goyer is very unpredictable. He wrote the scripts for Blade and Batman Begins. He also wrote the scripts for Blade 3, The Crow 2, and executively produced Ghost Rider.

Saw it tonight finally, too much stuff was left open or not explained. The graphics looked good and it was an ok plot, just not executed well. 7/10

That's also why this movie isn't doing very well ****ing out a single film to set up for possible sequels (POTC 2&3 ) is not a good way to start or continue a franchise (Matrix 2&3).

I didn't think this was as bad as some critics were making it out to be. It was definitely enjoyable. The British Jumper and Sam Jackson were fun, and the SPX were definitely cool to watch.

Though, Hayden's poor acting really showed in this. He just felt extremely wooden in certain areas of the film.

It's too bad because this film had loads of potential. I think had they beefed up the script a bit it could have been much better. For example:

When he first comes back to town, people accepted that he was alive far too quickly. I mean, the mom of the chick he liked was just like "you're alive? oh that's great!" No one asked him any questions, or how the heck he managed to get out of a river without anyone noticing.

Expand on the Paladins a bit. It'd be nice to know a little more about why exactly they hate the jumpers so much. I mean, I know that they all say "it's against god" but I'm guessing that the higher up "generals" in the Paladins (like S. Jackson and the Mom) have more personal reasons. It would have been nice to find those out. We did find out a bit when S. Jackson's character said "you all go bad in the end" but I would have liked to hear more personal reasons.

Expand more on the British Jumper's backstory and the dynamic between him and David. I mean, I got that at the end they wanted to play up the theme that Griffin was going bad like Samuel Jackson said (when he was willing to kill Millie to get S. Jackson) and that David wasn't, but I think they could have shown that more.

Griffin has obviously been alone for a while (we saw that when he was talking to the unconscious Paladin) so he's probably pretty messed up. They could have shown him going to more extremes trying to kill Paladins.

Overall I just think it was a lot of wasted potential.

It might turn out to be a triology but, not a well known one that makes Fox 100s of millions. Furthermore, Fox calling this a triology means nothing if the first film is a financial failure. Godzilla, Van Helsing, Lost in Space, and Eragon were all meant to have sequels but, these films had very unfavorable profit percentages that influenced the studios responsible for them to scratch plans for sequels.

The Pirates and Matrix examples aren't the best examples because movies 2 and 3 were made at the same time for both franchises. Most critics hated movie 2 for both franchises. Interestingly enough the final film had the worst domestic profit percentage in both series. I don't know anyone personally who liked Matrix Revolutions and Pirates 3. All my friends hated both films with a passion.
