Live issues

So I'm trying to set up my Live account and I'm running into all sorts of issues. When I connect from a router it doesn't recognize my DNS...ok, I'll admit that I'm not a PC Tech Geek so seriously, what the heck is a DNS and why isn't my 360 finding it?

Secondly, I can't even connect when I directly connect it to my modem because then it can't find my ISP. My ISP is there, I see the numbers but for some reason I'm having issues.

Any help would be good, I have to be at work around 1 so I probably won't be able to test out the problems until 9:00 pm-ish. I'm also going to pick up some new eithernet cables in case I have some bad ones so I can test out my Router one more time.

But...In other words....help.

The Domain Name System translates internet domains into IP numbers. I think the 360 can automatically adjust some of your settings.
