Okey dokey...the Professor DID say something to the effect that the Phoenix persona was "a purely instinctual one. Full of desire...and full of rage." While Logan's advances towards Jean may or may not have triggered the emergence of the Phoenix - and IMO it probably didn't because she already fried Scott at the lake (then again, it WAS a passionate kiss, so maybe, just maybe, raw animal passions DID trigger the Phoenix) - the Wolverine's animal instinctiveness must've appealed to the Phoenix persona.
Thus, her disdain at him when he hopped off the table like some proper Englishman and said "Let's take it easy." Didn't she hiss at him this way? "Look at you, Logan. He's tamed you!" The Phoenix - in this movie at least - is a wild and untamed creature, and seeing some hitherto feral creature like the Wolverine being reduced, in her eyes, to some rational-thinking humanoid must've been very annoying to her, to say the least.
Maybe the threadstarter did have a point after all. Hm.
