US filmmaker Joel Silver, who produced all of "The Matrix" films, said Tuesday he is planning a remake of the 1976 Oscar-winning science fiction classic "Logan's Run."

"I love the original material but I think that version is a bit silly," he told reporters in Barcelona where he was promoting his latest film "The Reaping" starring Academy Award-winner
Hilary Swank.

Based on a 1967 novel by the same name, "Logan's Run" chronicles a future society which imposes a mandatory death sentence for all those turning 30 in order to avoid overpopulation and the depletion of natural resources.

The film won an Academy Award for its visual effects and was nominated for two other
Oscars.

"The Matrix" trilogy featured pioneering visuals such as characters dodging bullets in slow-motion and levitation fighting which were imitated by other films.

The first film in the series won four
Academy Awards for technical achievement.

Meh. I'll stick with the original, thank you very much. I don't care how kitchy it is, Box still gives me the creeps every time he's on screen.

wtf...Logan's Run won an Oscar? lol

i've been waiting for this to be remade since i saw it 2 years ago. i still love the original as corny and cheesy as it is. they better get a Jessica that's as hot as Jenny Agutter! they should call the remake "Logan's Run: Renewal"

"THERE IS NO SANCTUARY!!!"

The original movie was changed a lot from the book itself. So if the remake is based more closely from the book than it be good.

Sadly I think this project is going to stay on Silver's shelf next to Wonder Woman gathering dust.:csad:
I would love to see the pre production stuff Guy Dyas has already done though, I bet its some good stuff.

This seems to be in the development hell cycle

Wasn't Bryan Singer attached to this not too long ago?

This is on my to watch sci-fi movie list along with Omega Man... However I have seen Soylent Green and that movie is awesome

Singer was supposed to make this after Superman Returns but since SR was a disappointment he feels he needs to fix his f*** up by making the sequel...

...therefor putting the Logan's Run remake on hold. personally, i would want someone else to handle Logan's Run. Alfonso Cuaron for director!!! hehe

I thought they already re-made the movie and called it "The Island".
