Look! Up in the sky! The Moon has a Halo!

So I don't know how or if this is visible wherever YOU are, but here in Southeast Ohio we have an AMAZING view for us up in the night sky tonight.

We have the full moon, and circling all the way around it stretching nearly the whole span of the sky is an incredible halo. Apparently this is common? But in my 26 years of life I've never seen it before.

I tried to get some pictures of it but they didn't come out too well, but for what it's worth, here they are:

It's really hard to see in those pictures, but if you can see it for yourself right now I recommend it. Very cool.

It's visible in my part of Ohio too. It really is something to see. (And I have never seen anything like this before either.)

I live in Wisconsin, didn't get a look at the moon, but damn it was bright out at 3:00 AM, hadn't seen it like that in a long time.

Saw this last night here in Kansas. It's not the first time I've seen the moon like that but it was still pretty awesome. It never got very dark last night either, the moon was really bright. It was kind or yellowish too, it was like something out of a movie.

Yeah, same thing happened here (Ireland) a few nights ago. I've never seen the moon like that before. I live in the country and the place was pretty misty. 'Twas eerily beautiful.

I can see it tonight, from eastern Kansas. Haven't seen the halo in a while, though I have seen it before. I read somewhere that it has to do with ice crystals in the air reflecting light.
