Looking for a PC controller

Looks ok to me. A controller will work in Oblivion without any trouble, but I don't think KotOR is going to work with one, the PC version wasn't designed with a controller in mind.

I dont think any computer game is designed with a controller in mind . I could be wrong though

Any cross-platform game that came out post-360 is supporting an Xbox360 controller, with the exception of some RTS games and MMOs. It's part of that whole "Games for Windows" tag I think, one of the requirements.

Wouldnt I be able to use something like xpadder on a game like KOTOR or Pinnacle Game Profiler

Well, for my money, Oblivion and KOTOR both control a hell of a lot better with a keyboard and mouse on PC.

But if you are going to buy a gamepad for the PC, Logitech's definitely the way to go. I myself own this one:

It still works swimmingly, even though it's about 4 years old. Plus, it's far less expensive now than when I bought it. Granted, if you're more a fan of the XBox controller, the one you picked would be better. I personally played the PS2 and PC exclusively for years, so I got really used to the PS2's controller.

Maybe. I've never used either of those so I don't really know how they work. I think you'd still have to dig around in an .ini file somewhere to make sure it lets you control the mouse cursor in the game with one of the sticks.

Thanks for the feed back guys I guess I will give the one I picked out a try

I have Oblivion and there is no support for gamepads in the game. You are going to have to use a hack like Xpadder to use it, but IMO, the game is much better with the mouse and keyboard. Trust me on that one.

As for a regular gamepad for most games, just use the 360 controller. All Games for Windows titles will have support for it (granted the genre lends itself to it) Its really a good controller and the best one out there for FPS if you prefer that.

If you don't have a wired 360 controller, pick one up. Just DO NOT get the 360 controller for Windows. Microsoft is just charging you 10 extra dollars for the driver, which you can download from Microsoft for free.

I would have to agree. I have tried many PC controllers but none are as good as the 360's.

I got my 360 for Windows for $29.99 at Buy.com earlier this year. Its actually cheaper than non-Windows one.

Current price for Windows controller is $32.99
Price of the non-Windows controller is $38.99

They are the same exact controller except like you said one has the Windows driver, which is cheaper by 6 bucks here

The prices for both are lower at Amazon and again the Windows controller is cheaper.

I got mine in Target. The non-windows one was 39.99 bucks. The one for Windows was 49.99.

But oh well. The 360 controller is comfortable and works with my emulators

the only thing about emulaters is that I hate the 360 controller for 2D games which is what most emulaters are for. The placement of the directional pad just isnt too comfortable and horrible for 2d fighters. This controller was made for 3D games with the directional pads being used sparingly. For emulation stuff, I use my PS2 controller or the SIXAXIS

It works well for me with my Arcade, NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, and Gameboy Advance emulators with no complaints.

I'm not much into fighters though.

yeah it works well but for me, I just think the D-pad is too close to the center of the controller and in turn too close to the face buttons. I prefer the d-pad on towards the outer portion of the controller, since thats the setup I grew up on with every single controller in the NES/SNES/Genesis generation which is what I use emulators for

I just used a keyboard for emulators when I played them. Shining Force still rocks whether you're using a D-pad or the directional keys. :)

I have tried setting up my 360 controller but it never works for me. I have wireless 360 controllers & one USB port thingy where u plug it into the controller & stuff
