Lost Girl

My problem with this twist is that
instead of being something unique to Bo it's something that all fae go through at some point
. This just makes things less interesting imo.

Which, I suppose, sort of downplays the suspense a little since
by definition, most Fae get through it fine. That said, I think one mystery that they could (and I suspect they will) develop is WHY Bo's transition is triggering so early. And I suspect the latter is where the story will focus on.

On a side note, anyone missing Hale? Especially given his (very noticeable) absence during the whole Kenzi situation.

Showcase Renews Lost Girl for a Faetastic Fourth Season

Posted by Kirk Hooper

Midway through its daring third season, Showcase orders a fourth season of the homegrown smash hit, Lost Girl. Boasting giant ratings, the Canadian original series begins production on season four this spring, set to air late 2013. Season three continues with new episodes Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Consistently delivering stellar ratings, Lost Girl has become a cornerstone series for Showcase and a top-rated specialty drama in Canada. During its first season run, Lost Girl ranked as the number one series on the channel (A25-54) and was the number one scripted series across all specialty channels (A25-54).The sophomore season maintained a strong performance, seeing a 5% audience growth across the 2+, A18-49, and M25-54 demos over season one, and ranked the number one program on Showcase. Un’fae’zed by the competition, Lost Girl trended worldwide on Twitter the night of the season three premiere winning its 9pm timeslot for specialty dramatic programming across multiple key demos, and delivered a top 3 performance for the night. Since the season three premiere began, Lost Girl remains the number one specialty program from 9-10pm on Sundays (A25-54 and 18-49).

“Lost Girl remains an anchor series for Showcase, and with its sharp writing and palpable cast chemistry, it has amassed a fan following second-to-none,” said Barbara Williams, Senior Vice President, Content, Shaw Media. “We are delighted to bring fans another season of the series and can’t wait to see where the creative team takes the story next.”

"Bo's world is going to be turned upside down. Her beliefs will be challenged and her allegiances will be questioned. Fans can look forward to a roller coaster ride," said Jay Firestone, Executive Producer, Prodigy Pictures.

Lost Girl follows supernatural seductress Bo (Anna Silk), a tough yet loveable Succubus who feeds off sexual energy. After realizing she is one of the Fae creatures of legend and folklore who live among humans, Bo refuses to choose an allegiance to either the Dark or Light Fae clans, leading her on a personal path of discovery. In a season full of twists and turns, viewers can watch the vigorous drama unfold in the season three finale slated to air Sunday, April 14 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Rounding out the cast is Gemini Award-winner Ksenia Solo (Life Unexpected; Black Swan) as Bo's human confidante and street-smart survivor, Kenzi; Kris Holden-Ried (Ben Hur, The Tudors, Underworld 4) as the Fae homicide detective competing for Bo’s affection, Dyson; Zoie Palmer (The Guard, Instant Star, XIII) as a human doctor and Bo's current love interest, Lauren; Rick Howland (Billable Hours, Murdoch Mysteries) as the mysterious tavern owner, Trick; and K.C. Collins (Owning Mahowny, Doomstown) as a handsome male "Siren" and acting Ash, Hale. Season three welcomed new cast member Rachel Skarsten (The Vow, Flashpoint) and features guest star Linda Hamilton (The Terminator, Beauty and the Beast).

Lost Girl was developed by Prodigy Pictures, in association with Shaw Media and Showcase. Executive Producers are Jay Firestone, Emily Andras, Paul Rapovski, and Plato Fountidakis. Vanessa Piazza is Producer, and the series is produced by Wendy Grean.

Lost Girl is produced with the participation of the Canadian Media Fund created by the Government of Canada and the Canadian cable industry, and with the assistance of the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and the Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit Program.

I didn't even realise that was the season finale! What kind of a finale was that!? I wanna know who that smokey bastard is and I wanna know NOW!

Agreed on the cliffhanger. As for the smokey guy, I reckon it's her father.

Overall, I felt this season was a little direction-less. Especially coming off the Garuda arc of last season. There wasn't much build-up to the finale and the only episode that ultimately mattered story-wise for it was probably the one just before it.

Yeah but what is her father? He sounds like something above Fae or like the most powerful Fae there is. Trick won't even mess with him, and wtf was up with Trick just abandoning Kenzi and Bo?

The writing for this season has been a little underwhelming, it at times seemed like the writers didn't put much effort into the storytelling.

Still, the show is good and I´m looking forward to next season. Hopefully Bo's dad turns out to be a worthy villain for the show.

Rather, I think it's the plot threads and pacing that were somewhat off. The subplot about Bo killing the Dark Fae went nowhere and resolved itself with minimal involvement of anyone except Tamsin. Then, the whole "evolution"/Dawning storyline felt lackluster and boring. They could've at least used it to help develop some of the side characters a bit more by perhaps recounting their experiences with the Dawning.

After that, the focus then shifted to the whole Wanderer storyline. However, just when things got interesting with that, they ended the season. Meaning all that build-up for a cliffhanger; which is just frustrating. And while we're on the subject of the final two episodes, there was a complete coup of Ash!Hale that came out of left field and the whole deal with Lauren; both of which lead into next season.

All in all, NOTHING got resolved in the finale; which I feel is the main problem.

You hit the nail on the head. This felt more like a mid season finale.

Yeah, I feel like the Dawning should have encompassed an entire season. The stuff with Lauren and the billionaire who wanted to be Fae just came completely out of left field and was just dull as hell.

I did love the inclusion of Tamsin this season, and making Vex more of an ally to Bo and Kenzie. The point had been made too often early in the series that despite being Unaligned, Bo clearly favored the Light Fae, if only by association.

EDIT: THAT'S where I recognize Tamsin from!!!! She was Dinah Lance on that god awful Birds of Prey show!!!

Sometime in 2014 I think. It premieres new episodes November 10th in Canada though.

Kenzi is [BLACKOUT]Jubilee[/BLACKOUT]! Perfect! :lmao:

I saw that and I was slightly confused as to what the hell was going on at first because it doesn't immediately follow the finale and I thought somehow I'd missed or forgotten something that happened. Then they explained it and it all made sense. :woot:

Kenzi is still my favorite on the show. :hrt:

You know, I like Kenzi being Kenzi, but this teenage girl who reminded Bo of Kenzi, I really disliked. I think my dislike of her started with the frying pan. What kind of person, who sees a woman in a nightgown, who is confused and poses no threat whatsoever, thinks to immediately knock her out?

I love this show, and Anna Silk is one of the most beautiful woman i have ever seen.

I just started watching this show on Netflix last week. Last night I finished the first season and man I loved it. Which is funny since I hated this show and wanted nothing to do with it when it first premiered on Syfy.

The dialog is really great and all the actors are very good in it. Although it does have a "B" quality to it sometimes.

But then again, it's that very 'B-grade' quality is what gives the show its goofy charm, is it not? :D

It only gets more outrageous as it goes on.

I agree Mr. peasant. The goofiness mixed with the serious stories are what make this show fun to watch. Kenzie is such a great character. The actress is beautiful and she has great snarky lines.

The special effects on this show are really good also.

Finally caught up with the new season. It's slow going without Bo in the mix, but it's good to see the other characters more involved without her. I've never been a fan of Kenzie and Hale, but I'm glad to see some progress with this relationship. It's funny because Silk brings a dynamic to the show that when she's gone it's really apparent.

Agreed

Ksenia Solo as Kenzi is the best part of the show. She's funny as heck.

She can do dramatic too, like the last episode. One more left in the season, I think. Unless it's only a midseason break. Going to be a big one.
