There are plans for a new ongoing series featuring Luke Cage in 2007, no confirmation on the creative team yet, but expect an announcement early next year.

This Has A “He Likes To Break Things, And People” Factor Of Eight Out Of Ten

"Creative team" is the key here.

Throw the project to some guys who could care less about the character and are just making time til they´re hired to work on X-Men and the project WILL bomb.

LOL! I was just talking to my sister yesterday how it was obvious that we'd get a Luke Cage ongoing in 07 with Iron Fist and Moon Knight and the other street level heroes doing so well.

Ill throw out a creative team here that will have people shocked:

Bendis/Foreman.

:wow:

Not bad.

I'm not gonna get all excited until i've seen whose running the show.

When Tim Sale's DC contract expires Loeb and Sale should do Luke Cage: Black.

Yes, I went there.

You talk with your sister about stuff like this?

That´s SO cool!!

Either give this book to Bendis,or a new talent.Bendis is just everywhere these days and another title for him would be madness.

I know I'm going to sound like a Bendis fanboy here, but I think he's the only one that could make me buy it. He really has a firm grasp on the character, and I'm not sure who else I could really see writing it.

The way i see it, put Bendis on this, you make him drop one of the Avengers titles.

Like he couldn't handle another book...:oldrazz:

In all honesty, I don't see him doing it. He has both Avengers, Ultimate Spider-Man, Powers and Spider-Woman next year. He can crank out titles, but 6 a month? I don't see it happening.

Looking forward to this in a big way!

If Bendis and Bru don't have time for the writing chores, I hope someone can find Priest. Give the title a mix between his run on PM/IF and The Crew.

Eh, I don't know if Luke Cage will be able to hold his own in a whole book dedicated to him. Interested to see how it goes though.

Ill be happy as long as Hudlin stays away.

I can't see Brubaker doing this. They should just leave Bru along and let him work his magic on Cap,DD and IF.

I can see someone like Guggenheim writing this.

Good call. That guy is popping up everywhere these days.

If memory serves me correctly,I remember Bendis saying how he and Maleev were offered something before Spider Woman on a Wordballoon podcast.I wonder if this was the project he was talking about.

God, I cant believe shes getting her own title.

I like Luke Cage, but this ongoing will be canceled in less then a year.

If Bendis gets this,I can't see that happening.

I have to agree with Marcdachamp on this. Put Bendis on this book. He knows how to write Cage, really well.

Even though Bendis bashing will never go away (even I do it). Plain and simple, Bendis is just bad at writing superhero comics. Ultimate Spider-Man, started off great, but sucks now. Bendis' run on Avengers sucked the big one.
Ultimate X-Men sucks. Ultimate Fantastic Four sucks. New Avengers sucks.

I haven't read Secret War or his run on Elektra so I can't judge those. And I really don't have hope for Mighty Avengers

I think we really got to give him props at what he does really well. Writing heroes like Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Spider-Woman really well. Bendis is much better at writing street level heroes like them, than actual full-on superheroes. Take Bendis off at what he sucks at and put him on stuff that he is really awesome at.

I also hope that this book will have the occasional crossover with the Immortal Iron Fist.
