Mad Max: Fury Road

Domestically, Mad Max was not a very successful series. In fact, the first Mad Max barely got American distribution and "Road Warrior" was never advertised as a sequel. People complain about "Thunderdome" but its what the studio felt the series needed so it could connect with audiences.

The series didn't go mainstream till Mel Gibson became a star with the Lethal Weapon franchise.

Internationally, it's a different story. Mad Max jump started the Australian film business and was a major success around the globe. For the tastes of foreign audiences, Mad Max hit the spot. As for whether it would be a hit or not today, it's impossible to know because Mad Max is very much a product of its time. If George Miller were a young filmmaker today, trying to make the first Mad Max movie, it would be a totally different film.

I think it would be almost the same except Max would be american and not aussie.

Theron's stunt double got a buzz cut and shared a photo.

Another stuntman shared a picture of his freshly shaven head as well.

I hear tell that there are a lot of shaved heads in Swakopmund now.

I wonder how extreme the leather/bondage wardrobe will be in this movie? Hopefully not a lot.

really wasnt she in snow white and the huntsman and prometheus

With in the context of the conversation: Before Snow White and Prom. She came back to acting last year (It would have been Mad Max as well.)

It's 2012, so they'll probably tone it down. If I recall, "Beyond Thunderdome" didn't have much leather/bondage. I think "Road Warrior" is the one where it was used most often.

So is this coming from Warner Bros.? They don't have any 2014 releases scheduled yet.

Maybe they'll release it March 2014. March has been one of those months where WB have release some pretty high profile movies.

2007 : 300
2008 :10.000 BC
2009 : Watchmen
2010 : Clash of the TItans
2011 : Sucker Punch.
2012 : Wrath of the Titans

I doubt something like Mad Max would require extensive CG work.'It's shot on real locations with real cars not doing impossible stuff.

There is one weekend left in March to open, the other studios are also releasing high profile films in that month after successful launches with 300, Alice in Wonderland, Clash of the Titans and The Hunger Games.

Chris Nolan also could have his next film in 2014. I'm thinking WB would want this for a June 2014 release.

If WB succeeds with MoS , then June might be might to consider. Over the past few years ( due to the success of flicks like 300 , Potter and Batman) , March , July and November are the months when they'll release their high profile flicks.

Yeah, there is something so unnatural about her look...

Yup, cant stand the whole 'plastic' fake look. Definately prefer natural.

I hope that Miller realises that in a post apocalyptic world , someone like Rosie would look beautiful butnot look like a model.
THat was one of the problems i had with Mila Kunis's character in the Book of Eli. Aside from the fact that she was horribly miscast IMO , it seems that peoplke simply forgot that the movie played in a post apocalyptic earth. Her clothes..looks everything just didn't fit the movie.

I think they'll be shaving all of these girls heads. Maybe that will help.

Or just draw more attention to her face.

She claims her lips are natural. Anyone who believes that should have to lick master blasters armpit

Filming in 2D is confirmed. DoP John Seale lists the cameras being used.

• 4 ARRI ALEXA Plus cameras (for standard sound shooting)
• 3 ARRI ALEXA M cameras (for the interior of trucks)
• 6 Canon 5D cameras (for stunt situations)
• 7 Olympus P5 cameras (as pure “crash” cameras).

I've also read a tweet that said Hardy has lost the beard and is now "rocking the stubble".

Other tweets say that filming begins next week.

Even though it's in 2D..they're filming in digital. Alexa is beautiful when done right. Look at Hugo and Drive. But it could also look like video in certain shots, like in Gangster Squad or Dredd. It's probably the best digital camera out there, besdies Red Epic.

so the movie is in 3D and its filmed with digital 2D cameras?

The shooting of the movie "Mad Max: Fury Road" have already begun. Still be in Swakopmund and trucks seen that are "abnormal" (extra wide) labeled and transported strange vehicles - mainly to the north. The company had recently ads pointed out that certain roads during the filming, which will last until November, were closed: Here are the routes D1991 (through the lunar landscape), D1984 (the road behind the dunes between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay) and D1983 (after Homeb along the Kuiseb Rivier) called. The company apologizes for the restrictions.

I can't wait to see Tom as Max. I wonder what the significance of the beard will be.
