Guess I'm one of the few that actually find her directing her own bio-pic the most interesting thing about this. We get to see and hear what the artist wants us to, not what others would have.
I'll be interested to see what scandals she chooses to dig into, I saw a clip of her with Diablo Cody (her co-writer) and they were looking at the SEX book, so I'm guessing the Erotica era is going to be in there.
Oh and I also found W.E. to be quite a well made film.

My choice for the actress to play Madonna would be Katie McGrath of Supergirl.

Even though she's 37, I think she could play Madonna from at least her mid twenties right up through her 40s. She's also worked with Madonna on one of her films.

Not only does she resemble the Madonna of the 1980s and 1990s, but she's shown she can convey all the character traits that made Madonna such an icon.

She can be strong, intelligent, vulnerable, sexy, snarky, spunky, seductive, naughty, etc. She can play someone who could command a room and an audience.

They'll probably want a younger actress than her, but she's who i'd pick. I think she could totally knock it out of the park.

She seems like the obvious choice but if Madonna's directing, she could have some bat**** out of left field choice to play her...such as herself.

Actually I feel like there are a ton of Madonna songs that would fit perfectly for a biopic. A few off the top of my head:

Express Yourself
Like a Virgin
Take a Bow
Into the Groove
Live to Tell
Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina

But not all of them would feel like they refer directly to her but could sound rather generic. Sure, one can use anything, but at least with "Material Girl" that unmistakably refers to Madonna. Even "Blonde Ambition" sounds more like it could be either a sequel to "Legally Blonde" or about any other blonde - eg Marilyn Monroe, Jean Harlow etc.

Material Girl seems like the best title. The song and the video are iconic, and when you hear the phrase ,you think of Madonna no matter which point her career comes to mind.

You want audiences to know who the film is about right off the bat as opposed to hearing the title and wondering what the film is about from a marketing pov.

That is unless you decide to just call the film Madonna.

Florence Pugh a solid choice, but I was kinda hoping Maddie Hasson would get it based on We Summon the Darkness.
