I have been thinking over the years....it'd be really COOL if Marvel offered a Make Your Own Graphic Novel available to fans. (from anything they've ever published)

They could have a set price...say for instance 10 issues of your choice reprinted in color bound in either hardcover/soft, again your choice, for a set price...$30/$25....or something.

This is a market they are surprisingly not thinking of.

There are so many great Spidey issues/stories I would love to recollect like that and would pay to do so. I've got giant collections of comics...but i LOVE reading them in book form...and pack/take them with me on trips often.

And marvel already owns the rights obviosuly to all their comics, all they'd have to do is take/make an order form and start re-printing them out.

I mean, look at all the other personalized stuff out there....calendars, games, self-binding/publishing books, etc....that's a REALLY HOT MARKET.

I'd be buying them like crazy.

My imagination goes wild thinking about what I'd order...favorite stories...etc...

My favorite Electro stories...favorite Hobgoblins....favorite "funny" issues...favorite awesome battles (vs. firelord, juggernaut, hulk)....

The list goes on and on.

This seems so simple an idea, a personalized tpb...yet I've not found anywhere where this is offered when i've searched...?? ..So, i don't think it exists.

Anyone else like to see something like this?

What are YOUR ideas for a make-your-own-graphic novel...?

(and please Marvel...USE my idea soon!!!...LOL...)

Although stuff like that would be cool the reason Marvel does not do it is because they would be printing one product per head, and that is not practical.
Too much hassle to just print one copy of each unique hc/tpb, and not enough profit.

Maybe....

However..self publishing book sellers.....can print out 300 page books (hardcover or soft) for an author, even just ONE...for like $13 bucks or less...on just cost of making it.

(lulu.com.....as an example)

So, it seems like it should be possible and profitable....if self publishing companies can bind a book and everything...even just one copy at same cost....

And Marval already has the means (the presses) that print out tpb's...so they're set up...so no extra cost there even either. I dunno.

Marvel should look into it....see what it would cost, and how much they'd have to sell it for....i am sure it is doable and that fans would PAY. :yay:

The best thing to do would be announce a new fan picked 10 issue Spidey trade.
Marvel would ask readers on its website- Which 10 Spidey issues do you most want reproduced in a trade? Then the 10 issues w/ the most votes would end up in the final product.
They could call it- Spider-man Readers Choice Collection Vol 1.

That's a good idea too.

I would like to choose my own however, and stand by that idea. I don't know enough true inside info to say whether marvel can or can't do that i guess.

But, letting the fans CHOOSE a greatest stories, that they want to see would GREAT.

Sometimes, when the "editors" choose a best stories kind of thing...they're not ones i would've voted for....so it'd be nice to put it in the hands of the fans one way or another.

Let them write in what issues they want and then tally them.....and do a volume one, two, and on and on..maybe two or three a year? Depending on sales...it would be fun and good publicity even for MArvel.
