Man fined for paying fee in pennies

$2500 in dollar bills is much tidier and easier to count than 2500 pennies, but you shouldn't throw that amount at a person like they're some ****e.
It's her job to count the money.
If it's too hard for her to count it, then im sorry but thats your job lady.

Seems like the law disagrees with you, take it up on capitol hill.

Lol If he challenges this in court, he'll easily win. Since when is being a jerk a crime? http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/docs/PE/htm/PE.42.htm
Look at this. By account of those laws and going by the article, it seems to me he didn't break any laws.
That is great logic.
Everyone will start converting their cash to pennies and flinging the sum at debt collectors!
Be an ******* and you won't have to pay your bills! See how the economy fairs then.
Money is ****ing money. If you don't wanna take my money then you dont want me to pay.

Whats so hard about this to you? Money is money. He got arrested for being a dick. And that's great use of the justice system.:whatever:

Exactly. It's a horrible precedent to set.

Otherwise if I borrow money from someone, then I pay in fifties instead of hundreds or some other legal tender which, for reasons real or imagined, they're not happy with. They could refuse it and then charge me interest.

It's garbage, this guy shouldn't pay a penny more...

It's out of the ordinary, but I see nothing particularly wrong here. Last I checked, pennies are still United States currency.

The customer is always wrong. :o

I'm sorry, but with that type of reasoning a lot of businesses would cease to exist. Customers do have rights within a normal set rules & they also have to reasonable also.

Don't be sorry, I just lost interest in the thread and wrote whatever.

This thread reminded me of why I hated customer service.

People.

As soon as certain people are put in a position where others are finally serving them they feel they've the right to be ignorant pricks. They've no control of their pathetic lives and love to displace that misery onto others.

Some of the same *******s who'd come in and dump a load of pennies infront of me with a sardonic smile on their faces are probably the same type of lowlife that goes home and smacks around the wife and kids.

That's quite a ridiculous jump...

Way to generalize people.:whatever:

Yes, and some of the same kind of people who would say "the customer is also an a**hole" are the same kind of people who would try and take Shannon Doherty and make love to her "in a very uncomfortable place"...

We learnt that from Mallrats, and it's as true today as it was in 1995...

I bought my Nintendo 64 in all quarters back in the day. In retrospect I guess I should have been arrested. :down

Anyone who thinks its ok to fine or arrest someone for paying a debt with legal currency needs their head checked.

***hole or not, its money. I agree that he's an ***hole. Thats irrelevant.

Its still money.

I'm fine with people being arrested for being *******s. Hopefully it's a lesson learned.

This reminds me of that time Bruce(the Oh No guy) on Family Guy paid with pennies at the store. lol

I remember seeing a youtube video where a guys car was towed, and he was pissed so he went and paid the entire fee with pennies and the woman at the desk called the police. the police came then told the woman to count it, because it was legal tender, then the woman called her boss and the boss called the police on the police or something stupid like that.

You have to love that attitude though...

What? You want ME to waste my time on small s*** like counting pennies? That's it, I'm calling the police! Because they don't have anything better to do than resove our petty civil dispute where no law has been broken.

You sound like a **** customer if I ever heard of one.
Do you really lack that much class that you'd do that to someone?

Word, it's one thing to hate the company or the *****e bag policies, but to **** someone else over just because you're having a cry baby moment lacks total character.

That's quite a ridiculous jump...

Had myself a bit of anger recidivism.
It is a bit of a leap, but sometimes you really get a feeling people have something dark and mean in them just by the way the lash out at someone serving them.

Way to generalize people.:whatever:

I can generalize about *******s all I want.
I wasn't saying each and every customer I had was an ass of epic proportions, actually less than 10%. Impossible to tell in this medium by the way I speak and respond to people, I can be quite charming and disarming.

I just have a deep disdain for people who go out of their ways to make other people suffer simply for the fact that they can.

I hate bullies. I loathe bullies.

Money is money. **** em.

Again it's one thing to pull a dick move to the person/company/entity being the dick, it's another to do it to some random person who may actually be a decent human because you're pissed off.

The attitude around here still seems to be a resounding "**** 'em".
Must be because I'm Canadian and have lived through being a night clerk that I humanize clerks.

Your work for them, your part of em.

Your work for them, your part of em.

You're being a tad obtuse, don't you think?

What if the clerk was polite to you, asked you if you could please take the time to put the pennies in rolls, to please be civil. You'd really feel in the right to just dump thousands of pennies on the desk? You think it is their job to get on their hands and knees to pick the many pennies that would end up on the floor?

Because money is money right, regardless of how it is delivered. How about if you paid in hundred dollar bills but decided to wipe your bottom with each bill and cake them in feces, it's still money right, money is money, it is their job to accept it?

Your work for them, your part of em.

You mean you work for them. You're part of them. And no, people need a job, pay bills, pay for school, raise their children. It's not some idealistic world where everyone can work for "let's make this our cause of the moment corporation", the way you treat the people that provide service for you shows the type of person you really are.

I've worked my fair share of retail/customer service jobs, and I have had to deal with my fair share of pricks. People who take it out on me because the company over charged them or the customer doesn't like the policy so they yell at me and turn into total d-bags.

I've also had customer's who understand, they are upset, but they show some class. They understand I don't make the policies, I am just there trying to do what I can to help.

Doesn't give a person the right to be a prick.
