Marc Forster to Direct Bond 22!

In concept? Yes. In execution? Not so much.

The execution could have been much better indeed.

It's funny, if you think about it, TWINE was a sort of crossroad, with different options for the next Bond. Carlyle was the youngest badguy yet (bad idea), terrorist was shown as the new threat (good idea), they wanted to make a more humane Bond (good idea), they had a relatively unknown Bond girl (good idea), and a flavor of the month one (VERY bad idea), and there were sci-fi elemnts here and there (bad idea). Surprise, surprise, DAD kept the dumbest elements of TWINE and forgot about the rest. It took the wrong path.

Oh and also before Casino the main problems were the reliance of too much gadgetry and silliness in the story.

Yeah, that's I don't think we'll be seeeing Q in this film. I think we'll still have Bond going around without gadgets. Maybe Q will be in the next one.

I like Forster. He's made a few quality films (IMO), so I'm not very worried.

Yeah...the TWINE was the worst out of all the Brosnam films. The direction was horrible and the tone was just all over the place. Denise Richards should have never been cast....and Carlysle was an excellent choice as Bond villian....but it seemed he couldn't save the film.

Bond 22 Director Hints At Swiss Alps

No sooner has Marc Forster been officially announced as the director of the 22nd James Bond film (due out November 7th 2008), but the German helmer is slipping some hints about the film to news outlets.

Unlike Casino Royale, where the early stages of pre-production were littered with rumours of possible shooting locations like South Africa and Australia (none of which were ultimately used), the road to Bond 22 has been a rather tight-lipped affair. Until now.

Forster spoke to his Swiss media group Blick about taking on Daniel Craig's second outing as 007 on the back of the tremendous success of Casino Royale, and dropped a few hints along the way.

According to the report, the production is considering shooting in the Swiss Alps, where Forster said on is never short of a great panorama. But he also stated that decisions are far from complete due to the heavy use of the locale in the 1969 film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Forster added the potential Swiss scenes may add nothing new.

When quizzed about the Bond Girls in the series, Forster joked that casting the new leading ladies was one of the perks of his new job. But which of the past girls have been his favourites?

Ursula Andress (Honey Rider in 1962's Dr No) is still at the top of the heap according to Forster, but Halle Berry (Jinx in 2002's Die Another Day) - who he directed in her Oscar winning film "Monster's Ball" - is a close tie.

Forster admitted he was completely surprised that he was considered, and won, the role of directing the film. But he said the producers knew exactly what they wanted: not an action director but someone who can deal with actors and had his own visions for the film.

Very interesting, thanks for the news.

If they did a movie in the vein of On Her Majesty's Secret Service but with the talent and intensity of what they did with Casino Royale and the outside-the-box direction of Marc Forster...

Well, I think that I'd be pretty damn excited to see that movie. :)

That's the only scary news about Forster. I mean, he really thinks Jinx is a good Bond girl? Close tie? No way!

I hope they end up shooting in the Swiss Alps,it's a great locale

Yeah, at first I was a bit worried, too, however you should bear in mind that he once directed Berry, so there's a chance he was being nice just for that.

That's what I presume, but it's still scary to read it.
