No offense, but absolutely not. The Thieves Guild is an organized crime syndicate that deserves exploration of its structure and Remy's place in it on its own, not as fodder to advance Romy. I want crime drama/heist projects and I think that any other use of the Guilds would be wasting their potential in the MCU.

Also, they absolutely should not "cut to the chase" with Rogue and Gambit. The chase is the whole damned reason they became so beloved in the first place. Why would the audience be invested in them as a couple without it? I think comic book fans forget that the vast majority of people who watch these movies don't read comic books. They aren't going to care about Rogue and Gambit unless you give them good reason to. And that means development of each character as an individual and then - once you actually care about the characters - any romantic relationship they might have together.

Again, no offence. It's just that as a longtime Gambit fan (as well as Rogue and Romy fan), I cannot stand this idea some people have that everything Gambit does has to revolve around Rogue. Gambit is a very interesting, multifaceted character who I am sure will become an instant fan favourite in the MCU if written as he should be. As much as I love it, his relationship with Rogue is probably the least interesting thing about him.

I guess when I say “cut to the chase” I just mean in terms of the two characters meeting/interacting. I’m not saying we rush to the chapel with those two, but their dynamic as a pair is a huge part of both their respective fandoms. The will they/won’t they of it all.

Couple that with the fact that they both have very similar criminal pasts & family drama, and it just makes sense to, again, cut to chase and introduce them & their stories into the MCU together.

Yes, but not everything has to be so isolated. We want Rogue & Gambit to interact and bounce off each other; why 3 shows to get there?

If there’s an X-woman to get a solo project, let it be Storm. Her origins are across the globe whereas Remy & Rogue are right down the street from each other.

Because you have to build to it my friend. You show them in their own elements and what brought them to the X-Men, then watch them together and how they work and vibe in the X-Men movies, then cap it all off with their own spinoffs.

There's a wealth of stories that you can do with them, don't want to skimp on it.

I think Abrams could be surprising though. He was especially good in Weapons but obviously it just depends on whatever actor can do the accent well enough.

I have no objections to a Mr. And Mrs. X show eventually. My thing is that it should feel earned and should happen as a natural progression of their character development and not just because they are together in the comics.

Also, I think Rogue's backstory with Mystique should be explored in the main movies because it is a huge part of how she ended up with the X-Men in the first place.

Yeah, just a difference of opinion here then. I think you can easily build the two characters up in a project both headline—where they come from, what motivates them, and what attracts them to each other— whether it’s a 2 hour film or a 6 hour season of television. I don’t think their stories are short-changed either way.

And you free up space in this hypothetical Disney+ slate for other mutant projects for characters that don’t jive so well. Maybe the Morlocks if an end-game is Mutant Massacre with Mr. Sinister. Maybe something weirder over on Muir Island (but not a Legion retread).

Now, if MCU is serious about more Disney+ Special Presentations, then this is all out the window lol because that really opens up opportunities to explore more characters & corners of the X-Men universe.

Absolutely, that's why I'm of the mind where you let them have their solo limited series first. There's so much to Remy and Rogue and a good creative team can show why they are so exciting and their divergent paths to becoming X-Men.

Then when they finally do join the team and gravitate to each other, you explore it like that and hopefully their portrayers will have that Romy magic. Which would eventually lead us to Mr & Mrs X.

And yeah I would love to see Rogue's story explored on film first, but with the way things are going, it's a toss up. If I had my way, her and her moms would've been the antagonists in a Captain Marvel movie.

But the X-Men have so many characters to show—spin-offs will help make sure they all get screentime & can crossover for big Avengers-style event films:

The X-Men (Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Wolverine, Beast, & Iceman + new recruit Shadowcat) take on big bads like Magneto & the Acolytes, Sentinels (financed by Worthington Sr.), and Mr. Sinister.

X-Factor (led by Havok & Polaris, with Forge, Strong Guy, and Multiple Man) can take on Sublime & the U-Men, maybe throw in Sauron and Savage Land to make this the “zanier” counter to the main X-Men series

Starjammers (Corsair & co.) take on something out in space, and introduce us to X-Men space lore like Shi’Ar and/or Brood plus MCU connections with Kree and Skrulls too.

Cable fights Apocalypse across time. Maybe fold Bishop & Shard into Cable’s timeline, or just use the Six Pack with Domino & GW Bridge.

Rogue/Gambit introduce the Thieves/Assassins Guilds, Mystique’s Brotherhood, and breadcrumbs for a Mr. Sinister crossover event film—taking inspiration from any/all, Inferno, Mutant Massacre, or X-tinction Agenda). Maybe Multiple Man can be introduced as a fellow mutant thief & ally of Gambit’s to make space for other characters on the X-Factor roster (but still have your cake & eat it too with getting MM into the MCU)

Characters like Nightcrawler, Psylocke, and Colossus are not in those pitches but I think they could find their way into sequels (especially fan favorite Nightcrawler).

You've listed too many things, which goes against what Disney stated they are going to focus on quality than quantity.

I'd rather see a new X-Men movie every 3 years, than those spin-offs that would just dilute the interest to the brand and make the wait longer for a new X-Men movie.

And oh a Disney+ show featuring the X-Men, good luck with the budget for that!

I'd rather see a new X-Men movie every 3 years, than those spin-offs that would just dilute the interest to the brand and make the wait longer for a new X-Men movie.

And oh a Disney+ show featuring the X-Men, good luck with the budget for that!

I’d be happy with an X-Men movie every three years too; I think that’s achievable with the other projects listed. MCU can be focused on the 5 proposed X-Men-related projects, plus FF, Spider-Man, and the New Avengers (whatever that ends up looking like). If we get another Doctor Strange solo project, awesome. All Marvel spin-off content can be mutant-centric. Maybe we get a Young Avengers but that can have mutants on the team.

Disney+ shows have pretty decent budgets. Depending on which character(s), I’m sure it’s achievable. Just don’t rush it through post-production and we won’t end up with She Hulk effects.

None of the recent Marvel Tv shows looked like they had half of the budget of Falcon/Winter Soldier.

What you listed isn't realistic unless you meant that all X-Men related projects in a span of 15 years.

Its highly unlikely they'd do X-Men, Starjammers, X-Factor, Rogue&Gambit and Cable in a short period time. Especially when there's still Deadpool and Hugh's Wolverine + other non mutant superheroes that would headline their own movie.

Im torn. Gambit is my favorite and I want him around enough to tolerate having Channing, but Channing is by far my LAST choice to play him.

Its the visual effects that usually drive up the budget. Disney wanted their Star Wars / Marvel Disney+ shows (live action) to look as cinematic as the movies - prestige TV. But even with that goal, they are a hit and miss with Loki season 1, WandaVision and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. I thought Ms. Marvel looked like a CW superhero show.

I also think having cheap looking shows, would dillute the interest for the movies. Ultimately, if the TV shows and movies are under the same continuity, they should look visually consistent and convince people to watch both mediums.

Gambit and Rogue are probably going to be in Marvel Studios' X-Men, especially if the roster would be close to X-Men '97.

Rogue though is more likely, since Channing Tatum is playing Gambit in Doomsday and probably Secret Wars, so that might lessen the possibility of a rebooted Gambit just months after Secret Wars.

It would be great if they had Anna Paquin in Rogue's green and yellow costume alongside Tatum's Gambit and then just keep those versions for the Deadpool movies alongside Jackman's Wolverine which means the proper MCU versions of the X-Men can get fresh actors and a clean slate from the Fox movie cast.

I would love if they did a heist scene with Gambit in a movie. I quite enjoyed how X-Men Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men portrayed him as a villain in a change from the Fox animated series. Gambit could become a member of the X-Men as a progression point for the character, but let him start as a villain/anti-hero working for the highest bidder and being a thorn in the heroes side, or at most a neutral ally. His friendship with Storm would make him more inclined to help the heroes if she's a member (if they go for a sibling like relationship between the two, let him cause trouble).

They could do a Mr Sinister presentation called Sinister that would show his backstory. Something that isn't essential to watch for the movies but just adds a little something for fans. It also means they wouldn't have to waste movie screentime on his backstory when it has its own seperate thing. it would be like a horror genre thing. The Morlocks could tie in as the results of Sinister's experimentations on the Homeless as test subjects and the morlock massacre is basically him trying to get rid of the evidence.

I think some mutant powers can be done with practical effects either without or with minimal CGI. For example, with Multiple Man, hire twins/triplets and stand ins that can be shot from behind; for face shots the twins/triplets can cover with clever camera angles/shots.

For Storm's powers, use a giant wind machine for when she causes a hurricane, flashing lights and pyrotechnics for lightning (though you would need to CGI the lightning bolt), a wind machine again for a tornado effect but CGI a tornado so you know it's a tornado.

For Jean's powers, it would be wires and acting.

For Rogue's powers it would be mostly acting with some slight CGI for a drainage effect.

For Gambit's powers, they could do practical explosions with some CGI for the glowy effect.

For Beast, just hire someone who can do gymanstics/martial arts and can act who also doesn't mind being covered in blue fur. The could probably do a blue fur bodysuit with the only prosthetics required being for the face etc.

The MCU is going to have to do the Phoenix saga because it has all the elements there unlike the Fox movies which had to do adaptations. They can cover the space stuff with the remaining GotG characters, whose actors are willing to reprise their roles, to introduce the Shi'ar and starjammers etc before having those characters be more of a focal point.

The Boys shows have budgets around $11-12 million an episode, Which is significantly cheaper than the MCU shows.

If they’re going to cast a 20 something for a Rogue like I think they’re going to, they’re gonna need to pair her with someone that’s late 20s or early 30s, and Channing Tatum just ain’t it, especially if they’re planning on keeping Gambit around for a decade or so.

That’s one thing I don’t think we have to worry about, at least.
