March 19 'Supermoon' Might Trigger Natural Disasters

When it was forming, I'm guessing

The theory to the Moons formation is that when the Earth was young, it was struck by a Mars sized object. An incredible amount Debris was flung into space and it orbited the Earth, over years and years the debris began to lump together thanks to gravity and formed the Moon. This would explain why minerals found on Earth were found in the Moon rocks collected by the Apollo astronauts. The moon was originally very close to the Earth, but it moved away (It's still moving away, every year I think it moves a few centimeters away from the Earth) it kind of explains the tides going in and out.

Take that Bill O'Reilly! :awesome:

The funny thing is, that theory still doesn't remove a Creator from the equation. :awesome:

Probably when the Moon and Earth were one in the same.

Only 6 days away... I hope everyone is prepared for what's coming. :o

Wow.

I'm gonna just come out and admit, I've been waiting for this full moon. I'm timing my first book writing the week during and after March 19th, to harness the creativity energy. But I had no idea some astrologers consider it a [more?] special full moon in any respect.

My cross-hatch take at the science: the moon's stage of fullness is not the point. "Fullness" is just the angle at which the moon reflects sun rays. Its proximity to the earth is a whole different matter - that could affect the delicate balance between celestial bodies, and cause disaster in areas that are susceptible (ie, lying along fault lines).

Did it cause devastating natural disasters 18 years ago? No. Case closed.
18 years ago would have been 1993.

As far as natural disasters go, 1993 was the year of the Braer Storm, and the Storm of the Century. Major political events were remarkably bloodless and progressive, including Eritrea's independence and the Dissolution of Czechoslovakia.

And anybody interested in the upcoming Mercury Retrograde (which supposedly causes misunderstanding and breakdowns of talk), 18 years ago was the tragedy at Waco: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waco_Siege

...This is not to say that such events cannot happen at any time, just food for thought.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the moon and earth have a magnetic pull to each other right?

Those events happened across a 6 month period.

so now the super moon causes disasters for an entire year?

:pal:
The Storm of the Century, in particular, did occur from March 12-13th. I thought it was also interesting that the 51-day standoff of Waco, Texas ended right after Mercury Retrograde, and that the Velvet Divorce occurred in January 1993 (which was more about independence from the Communist government), right around the time present-day Egypt experienced its own non-violent "divorce" from Mubarak.

While I doubt the moon's proximity is the sole cause of ALL human history and natural occurrences, I do think it's an interesting fresh concept. I am simply curious about the unseen forces that can influence events and cause patterns in recorded history.

No need for intellectual posturing, just maintain an open mind.

An interesting article from 1993:

Now BIGGER and more EXTREME than ever!!!

Al Gore, Richard Noelle, and Miss Cleo were right. Giant moons, they'll get you.
