Mark Warner to run for the Senate in 2008

Wish he would have gone for President instead, but maybe that's still not out of the question down the road. Hope he wins.

I was a huge Warner supporter. Thanks for posting this cb

Its too bad that he opted for Senate. I think Senate by nature makes presidential candidates weak as it gives them a solid voting record that can be twisted and turned and held over their head. I think it will seriously damage his presidential chances. The worst part is, it also takes him out of consideration for the Vice Presidency in 08 as he will be running his own Senate campaign.

I wish he would just run for his second term as Governor in 2010 (as he would be allowed to do, then by Virginia law) and then go for the presidency in 2012 if a Republican holds it.

Still, its ashame he isn't running for President. Could you imagine a Warner/Richardson ticket. I'd orgasm a little :csad:

I was happy to post it. I was a Warner fan as well.

I'm thinking that the reason why he is running for the Senate is that he is hoping that a tenure there would give him some experience in foreign policy/national security. That was one area that I know he doesn't have much experience in.

I'd vote for that ticket. I also agree that the Senate isn't a great place to run for the Presidency from. Unless you've proven you can be an executive already, which is why so many governors get elected. I believe he's already got that going for him.
