Mars Needs Moms! directed by Zemeckis

look at the mom. a stylized face on a realistic body. it looks strange. it looks wrong.

I know Yellow Submarine was officially cancel several months ago but I think it actually got killed because of Mars Needs Moms.

Zemeckis, get the message. We hate these movies and we hate how they look. Go back to doing live action movies. Don't remake Yellow Submarine, no one wants to see it in that style.

I didn't realize Zemeckis was involved with this. That would explain why it looks like a bland live action movie with a thick coat of paint from uncanny valley. I saw the trailer and was depressed that so much money and manpower is once again being wasted on a soulless mocap movie when those same resources could be used on one of the many brilliant animated film concepts that are still stuck in pre-production hell.

He didn't, Simon Wells directed it. Zemeckis was a producer.

I love The Polar Express, but was due to the story and not so much the animation. The motion capture in most cases leaves me cold. So I'm hopiing he goes back to live action films, which are so much better.

Zemeckis makes amazing live action movies. That's the medium he knows, and he's a master of it. Animation is a shiny new toy for him and he doesn't really know what to do with it, and he doesn't really understand which aesthetics work well in animation and which ones don't. Also, he doesn't have an eye for what is good animation and what does not, because he simply assumes motion capture = realistic animation = good animation.

I'm glad this movie bombed, it looks really bad. I'm glad the general audience is learning about good animation, now how about making Transformers 3 a bomb? No chance, well I tried.

He made my favorite movie of all time, which is Back to the Future. He needs to go back to doing stuff like that. I didn't realize he hadn't directed a live action movie in more than 10 years.
